I don’t buy this on the republican side at least. Even in statewide primaries they almost always seem to pick the crazy candidate (even for races that promise to have a competitive general election). No reason to think that creating more competitive house races would solve that problem.

The problem is that Murkowski and Collins repeatedly act shocked and concerned at the completely foreseeable outcomes of the legislation they support and actors they vote to confirm. Being over their bullshit naïveté seems completely fair to me.
