Off-Topic An American Snowflake in Spain...

As some of you are aware, we live in Portugal and have for almost 8 years now. And usually the second thing out of our mouths, after explaining NC is midway between NYC and Miami (funny that is a common reference), is to apologize for Trump and to say that we have no support for him or his...

Politics October 18 "No Kings" Protest

Seatbelts? Speed limits? TSA security? The list is endless of government-mandated laws that millions didn't/don't want, yet became laws and had to be followed. To save lives. Got outta here with your crap.

    Off-Topic RIP Ace Frehley

First 3 albums I bought from my first paycheck were Kiss' Alive II and Rock and Roll Destroyer, plus Boston's first album. R.I.P. Ace. You gave me much entertainment and memories over these nearly 50 years since then.

Off-Topic Nervous about International travel next week...

Another thing to remember/know about paying with a credit card, many times you will be given the option to pay in US dollars or the native currency. ALWAYS pay in the native currency, as they hit you with a lousy exchange rate. Your bank's exchange rate is always much lower. Also, NEVER get...

Off-Topic Nervous about International travel next week...

For tipping in both Spain and Portugal, 5-10% is the norm, if you do tip. However, especially in Portugal, it is not "required" or expected at most places, but if you do want to leave a tip, Cash is really the only way. If paying by card, they bring the terminal to you, show you the amount...

Off-Topic Nervous about International travel next week...

Things have cooled somewhat in Barcelona. You will see signs, and maybe a little attitude, but as it is past peak tourist season, and you should be fine. Casablanca and Tenerife will have no issues. As to re-entry with the shutdown, I have no experience yet. I am flying to NC on the 30th into...

Politics Trump orders troops to “War ravaged” PORTLAND

I have read that statute many times over the years. Please show somewhere within your link, or any other, that I will go to jail, or any other penalty besides a fee based on the going interest rate. There is none. Any crime/illegal act has an escalating form of punishment to deter its repeated...

Politics Trump orders troops to “War ravaged” PORTLAND

I am beginning to think that R.I.F is severely lacking on this board. NOWHERE DID I SAY THAT IT ISN'T ILLEGAL TO NOT PAY YOUR TAXES. I said that it is NOT ILLEGAL to not pay quarterly estimated taxes or declare too many exemptions at first, as long as it is correct when you file. FOR THE THIRD...

Politics Trump orders troops to “War ravaged” PORTLAND

Again, wrong analogy. Keep getting parking tickets and eventually they will boot you/tow your car which yields more fees, expenses, etc, It is LEGAL to underpay your quarterly taxes. Or not pay them at all as long as you pay everything when you file, along with the penalties. Again, I have...

Politics Trump orders troops to “War ravaged” PORTLAND

Try again, as once more, you are wrong. Speeding results in a ticket and a traffic offense, plus points against your insurance. Done enough times yields more penalties, including criminal offenses and a possible loss of your license. Underpaying your taxes throughout the year, or declaring too...

Politics Trump orders troops to “War ravaged” PORTLAND

Which I do every year since I live in Portugal but still pay tax in the US. My penalties for underpaying are about $40-50 each year. I make more by keeping my money and then paying the penalties later. No big deal at all. So, your answer is wrong. It is TOTALLY legal to claim more...

Just used my first Super Ignore. No reason to deal with so much hate and vitriol.

Politics How hard is it to move to another country?

As recent visitors to both Hungary (Budapest) and Czech Republic (Prague), I can confidently say that they are protesting against tourists and immigrants. Not like Barcelona and Lisbon, but I did see and feel resentment while visiting both. Not a lot, but it was there and seemed to be growing.

Politics How hard is it to move to another country?

I do at every opportunity. Usually apologizing profusely and trying to distance ourselves from anything Trumpian.
