We all have biases on which underprivileged populations deserve a little extra help... and which do not. Trying to cherry pick that we help this group and not that one is a path that's begging our unconscious biases to take over. Is it fair to say that we all have certain underprivileged groups...

I'd say it's 6 of one, half dozen of the others. I think many *want* to blame it on DEI/minorities, and Trump/MAGA have jumped on this to, as you said, protect the broken system that is more and more every day only serving the billionaire elite.

This is a very good post... people want to believe their jobs are being taken by less qualified minorities... in truth they are being taken by the glut of highly qualified people hitting the market when premier jobs are not restricted primarily to white men.

Why is it that it offends you when it's mediocre minorities with an advantage? Mediocre white men have been getting a leg up since the beginning of time. A handful of mediocre minorities get helped, and this is suddenly a travesty which can't stand? And why would DEI be a blow to talented...

Sure, there was a narrow band of mediocre white male college grads who had to deal with a slight whiff of what it was like to be a female job seeker... nothing close to what it was like for a black job applicant. But still, for a brief period of time there were a limited number of roles/...

Meh... DEI was a blow to average performing white guys who expected to move up if they paid their dues (i.e., hung around doing mediocre work).

If they have done something to rise to the level of being arrested, arrest them. If not, don't. I would hope our FBI has not been downgraded by the current admin to a point where they are no longer capable of figuring that out. Either way, don't run a victory lap for scoring 400 on the SATs...
