That yes. But you can’t dismiss the fact that he ran against a woman of color from California. There are millions who would not vote from any woman (especially a brown one) who would vote for a Dem man.
Yeah, there's a reason why Biden was able to win while Hillary and Kamala didn't. Sad to say, but as I said with Crockett running in Texas it's a very ugly reality of our politics right now, unfortunately. There's simply a large number of men and women (especially Evangelical women) in America who will simply not vote for a woman to be POTUS in either party. I've had Evangelical women tell me that they believe that god "set aside" major leadership posts like the ministry and presidency for men. I think that's not true at all and is a huge self-own, but it's definitely a fairly common feeling in much of the country.

Jasmine Crockett is not Hillary or Harris. She is a wild card fire brand who is dynamic and wicked smart. I'm not predicting she could win the primary or the general election against dry toast Cornyn, but I would love to see a Cornyn v Crockett race . The juxtaposition of a young dynamic black woman matched up with an old dry white toast Cornyn would be fun to watch:cool:

I don't doubt that her intelligence or that she's dynamic - I've seen her in some committee hearings and she's definitely passionate about her politics. I just seriously doubt that anywhere close to a majority of Texas voters will be willing to elect her in a statewide election. At any rate if she's the Democratic candidate I'll certainly cross my fingers and hope like hell that she can pull it off. And no doubt watching Cornyn squirm in a debate with her would highly entertaining, if likely not making much difference to the outcome of the race.

I think she's fine as a high profile representative. I'm generally not blown away by the substance of what she says, but I like having someone in the House caucus who is good at highlighting (and sometimes mocking) the worst Republican pathologies. But Crockett has zero chance to win a senate seat from Texas, and even if she did, I don't see her being nearly as good a senator as she is a representative. I don't think Crockett sees her campaign as performative, but it kind of is. This is an example of Dems needing party-level leadership with the vision and spine to move people to the places they can be most effective.

Black men too. Biden won Georgia in 2020 and got significantly more votes than Stacy Abrams who was running for Gov.

Georgia’s elections for Governor (and other statewide state offices) are in off-years (‘26, ‘22, ‘18, ‘14).

It’s difficult to compare vote totals in those years to Presidential years.

I agree that Texas gives the home field advantage to the old white guy conservative incumbent, and If I had to my life on the election then I would pick Cornyn to be the winner.

But here is what I'm looking for:

Crockett beating Cornyn would be shocker
Crockett losing by less than 5 points would be a canary in the coal mine
Crockett turning out young voters who say they want next generation folks in Congress would send a message that they are a serious voter cohort that actually wants to transform American politics and not just whine about how awful it is to have old white guys controlling Congress.

Some mix of misogyny and macho is likely more prevalent in minority cultures than among whites. There's going to be some people who will not vote for a woman even when it's a mistake for them.

Fwiw, I wonder if we compared educational, financial and social status instead of culture how it would work out. I'd bet on a bell curve with more misogyny on both ends. Makes me wonder if all these Republican women are naive or really feel that special.

You are assuming Cornyn wins the Republican primary over Paxton? I’m not sure that is a foregone conclusion.

I don't see Crockett winning a Senate seat in Texas, she would be better off to stay in the House unless her seat is one of those being gerrymandered to favor Republicans, which it may be, I haven't checked. Even so I don't see Texas voters electing a young, outspoken, very liberal black woman to a Senate seat. That's terrible to have to say, but it's just a political reality in a state like Texas.
Her seat was gerrymandered away. Same thing that happened to Jeff Jackson. Gotta find a new job.
