3. Go ahead and marvel at Wemby all you want. Enjoy it while it lasts. Because with his size and aggressive play style, those twig legs of his are one hard foul or bad landing from snapping in half. And he'll never be the same again after that happens.
Hard not to agree, and I am enjoying him while it lasts and pulling for him. He seems likable.

But by the odds, he’s just not built for longevity. Similar with Chet, who has already had a couple uncommon injuries. Thunder paid him almost $50 mil per year, and gotta be crossing their fingers.

“… Yet Jones’s presence in the indictment is surely causing the most concern in Olympic Tower. Jones’s NBA playing career ended in 2009. He spent several years as an assistant in Cleveland before moving on from coaching, too. But he was very popular during his playing days—Jones played for 10 NBA teams—with a large collection of high-profile friends. Including LeBron James.

In the indictment, Jones is identified as an unofficial assistant coach for the Lakers during the 2022–23 season. Also named is “Player 3,” a teammate of Jones (which James was) who would later coach him (ditto). On Jan. 9, 2023, Jones claimed in text messages to associates that Player 3 would sit out the game against Milwaukee. “Get a big bet on Milwaukee tonight before the information is out,” Jones texted. James did not play that night. The Bucks won the game.

No one has suggested James knew anything about illegal bets, and it would be surprising if he did. But James is just one player in Jones’s extensive digital Rolodex; indeed, the indictment claims that Jones used his relationship with the Lakers and NBA personnel to access non-public information. Some within the league walls see the Rozier and Billups situations as containable, even viewing the indictments as a deterrent for years to come. Jones’s involvement, though, could cause the fallout to linger. And spread. …”

Great games again last night. Dubs showed a TON of grit coming back to tie it up and win in OT. Steph doing Steph things. Gordon was a video game and it wasn’t enough.

Shai going nuts as the gutsy Pacers pushed them to 2OT, again.

What an amazing week of action so far.

I can’t be the only one who noticed Chauncey wearing klutch sports gear on his perp walk 👀

You think they will get 70 c? I think Dallas will be fortunate to get a starter and one first. 70 c would sound great to me if I was the interim GM.

Yeah, maybe not even that

Think he will have to get on the court and play a string of games before anyone trades value for him

I’m still not convinced that there wasn’t some sort of collusion behind the Luke/AD trade lol. Just a baffling decision.
I read the NBA subreddit a lot and they believe that Nico personally hated Luka because Luka disregarded Nico’s desire to take his conditioning seriously and stuff like that. That Nico is a health nut and Luka would eat donuts and play video games and then go out and put up 40.

That ownership was too unfamiliar with basketball to say no to Nico so signed off on it.

That’s the simplest explanation and probably the gist of what happened. It’s just one of those trades that was such an obviously poor decision that it makes you go into conspiracy theory mode.

This has always been my guess. Luka really seems like a spoiled brat, between his lack of dedication in the Mavs years, lack of interest in defense, and the way he’s always treated officials — mad dogging them and barking at them on nearly every single play, literally.

Nico called him out on it over time and they butted heads as a result, and it became personal.

That may have clouded Nico’s decision to make arguably the stupidest trade in history… and he looks like a goat as a result. But that doesn’t mean that Luka didn’t play an equally large role in precipitating that trade. Luka wasn’t going to ever magically get into shape under a hands-off coach like Kidd, especially while putting up big numbers he could point to as justification for his donuts and video games. He should probably be thanking Nico for making the move that ultimately motivated him to finally act like a professional and train properly.

Not that I expect it to last. I think it was just an ego thing for Luka to get into shape and make a statement, and I’m guessing he’ll lose interest and be back to donuts and video games before too long. Especially since his deal is inked for a few more years.

As for Nico, Flagg was just a temporary life preserver he was clinging to. Since that hasn’t started out like gangbusters, he had to go. Simply too hated by the fans to recover. And he deserves it for not only the meager return he got, but for how drastically and comically he underestimated Luka’s popularity.
