4K TV

I got a new TV a couple of weeks ago as an early Christmas present. It's a 65 inch Samsung QLED with 4K. I have YTTV and they have a deal where you can upgrade to 4K for a month to try it out. After that it's $5 extra a month for a year and then $10 ectra a month after that. Just wondering if there are enough events and shows in 4K to make it worth the extra cost.

For awhile I was paying the extra, I don't recall signing up for it.

I dropped it and have never noticed any difference.

I will never buy another Samsung television or appliance (different story for a different thread). I've uninstalled their Movie Hub and Samsung Plus channels 50 times. Every time they push an update it reinstalls them and sets them to the default at launch. It's weird as the TV controls seem to slow to a crawl when their channels are on and it takes 15 minutes to go through all the steps to get ride of it again. I really don't understand why they push this so much. The other brand TVs I have also have free channels, but they never default to launch, those TVs all come up to the home screen where one chooses which service to use.

I got the new tcl qm9k. It uses Google TV as the operating system so there is no bloatware and has Gemini built in. I love it.

Interesting. I've never had an issue with Samsung TVs.

Based on reputation I've stayed away from their appliances.

As for the 4K. Give it a try. I guess it depends on whether or not you watch the shows that come in it.

I've never bought it.

Do you have a device using the HDMI port of your Samsung TV?

I have a Firestick.
I've wondered if having something on the HDMI would help.

There's a setting in the system to launch the last thing watched, including streaming content. When there is an update that changes to launch Samsung Movie Hub, so I have to change it back after every update as well as a couple of other steps to get the TV to stop launching the Samsung movie hub when I turn the tv on.

What I did was disconnect the TV from my WiFi and run everything through the Firestick.

I signed up for YTTV 4k because it allowed more concurrent streaming sessions. But after comparing several football games in 4k verses non-4k, the 4k version seemed dull and like a tv signal from the 90s. Almost like it had remaining smoke from a half time show. The non-4k signal seemed much more vibrant.
