Really enjoyed the series and got me to looking at his sources , which let me to Atkinson's books. They are really good as well. What shocked me was by March 1770, the American population was growing 4x as fast as Englands; two-thirds of white colonial men owned land compared to 18% in England; two-thirds were literate, whereas only 40% were in England; two-thirds of colonial men could vote, compared to 1 in 6 in England. Go take a look at Atkinson's, "The British are Coming." I've now finished volumes 1 & 2.
