It isn't the nuclear bomb or personal computer.

It is the idea that the government must follow the law. And the concomitant principle -- which has been occasionally violated, always to bad effect -- that citizens have rights, and those rights imply remedies to vindicate those rights. And that we expect our judiciary to be impartial as a guarantor of freedom.

And that is what Congress and most inexcusably the Supreme Court is putting in jeopardy. And if the government doesn't follow the law, the men or women responsible must face punishment. And that includes the judges.

I really wish the Supreme Court understands that they are putting their heads on the chopping block by acquiescing to Trump. Literally. Dictatorships do not end peacefully. If Trump doesn't have them executed, which he very well could, the revolutionary vanguard will. And well they should. Maybe their children too, though I wouldn't endorse that unless the children are culpable. Sadly, revolutionaries are rarely guided by restraint and moral principles. As the conservatives like to remind us, the death penalty is perfectly legal. If a man can get the death penalty for shooting another man in the head, a man who permits thousands or tens of thousands to be needlessly killed should face an even harsher penalty.

He’s provoking a violent overthrow (response and attempt) and preparing for it across the board. I’m skeptical we can make it to 2026. If he rigs Pub wins in 2026, that will create an explosion.

Yes, that is indeed my fear. And the Supreme Court must be held accountable if that happens.

Economic theory says that mere execution is not a sufficient deterrent. That if, to be rational and non-empathetic, the punishment would need to involve a lot of painful torture. We're not going to do that nor should we, so hopefully they won't complain if they get off light.
