Anyone still think Biden was foolish for issuing pre-emptive pardons?

If anything he should have done a lot more. But it won't matter when we get to phase 3 of the master plan.

Yes, I continue to believe that the preemptive pardons, while understandable on a personal level and surely appreciated by those who received them, were a political mistake that gave unnecessary cover to Trump's own abuse of the pardon power.

Unnecessary is correct. Trump would have done it anyway and only a naif would consider what Biden did as being commensurate.

I don't entirely disagree with you. I understand very well that Trump would have done the J6 pardons no matter what. But as has been made patently clear in recent years tens of millions of Americans are, in fact, naifs. One of the big reasons the Dems' "vote to save Democracy" message fell flat in 2024 (in addition to the fact that most Americans just don't understand how our government works) is because Republicans effectively undercut it by pointing out the lack of a primary process on the Dem side after Biden withdrew. The comparison only made sense to a naif, but it worked because that's what many people are.
