The sea turtles were on that wall at the back of a small parking lot just north of rosemary on Columbia I thought.

I lived in the house next door as a college student back in the 70s. It was known as Star Point back in the day.

Star Point was funky with various businesses moving in and out frequently from massage parlors to laundry mats to soul food diners to dope shops

I went to some parties in that house over the years. I've also know that spot to be called "Hippy Hill" and "Congested Area."

If you attended parties circa 1974, then we may have been torping beers together

I didn't arrive to party until 1976...I think most of my partying in that house took place in '80-'82 or so.

Starpoint was a party marker of sorts for me though. Being from the next-door dry county of Chatham that county line gas station was one of the first places to buy beer. I very clearly remember when coming back to Chapel Hill from visiting my folks down in #DeepChatham that I could stop at Starpoint and buy two Tall Boys, in those days either Schlitz or Bud, and if I hustled I could drink both by the time I got to my dorm (Everett). That exercise would generally get me caught up with the rest of the reprobates in that place.

"Dean Mural Update:
Turns out social media can produce a positive effect on occasion. A lot of people have asked where a new Dean mural will end up and currently I have no idea but things are looking brighter.
