You are an idiot. Board me,hers are typically accomplished business people or accomplished in their field. Apple and every other board in the world isn’t putting crackhead losers with zero professional accomplishments on their boards. You might be the only person that actually believes hunter was put on that board based on his own merits and not because daddy. You simply aren’t a serious person to have discussions with. Another thing I’m giddy about from the election though is the possibility that trump turns the dogs lose to investigate hunter and his uncle and Joe and that they bring charges based on anythin and everything, no matter how obscure. Time for lawfare to be turned on the Biden’s. Maybe shake L. James tree also. Payback is a bitch.
I think they picked Hunter because of his last name. But that wasn't the issue. You said he was unqualified, and you have no idea what qualifications are.

I just cannot understand why you persist with this. You arguing corporate governance with someone who literally taught corporate governance to lawyers and MBAs. Why? To liberals and conservatives (it's not really a strongly ideological field). I got that job in part because I worked at the #1 super-best corporate law firm in the country, and also because I've published on this topic.

Do you also argue about relativity with astrophysicists. Actually, probably you do.

What is Hunter going to possibly be pardoned for? Stuff that was on his laptop or other stuff? I haven’t been able to follow the circuses about the Trump cases and Hunter Biden cases, so forgive my ignorance.
You should probably ask for blanket forgiveness with your overall grasp of things.

I think a lot of Americans don't yet understand - the rules, norms, laws, etc that used to guide our behavior no longer apply. One party has completely abandoned any pretense of playing by the rules, in politics and in real life, and anyone else playing by those rules is foolish. Those rules govern a world that no longer exists.

When trump orders his new AG to fire Jack Smith, no Republicans will object, and trump will have gotten away with stealing classified government documents, among other crimes. Right and wrong will no longer apply. It's all about what you can get away with. Maybe I've been naïve. Maybe it's always been this way, but now it's out in the open for all to see. It would be malpractice for any political party to not adapt. Democrats (and any others) have to get in the game, because the old way is over.

Pardons aren’t for claims of actual innocence.
They can be and sometimes are used that way.

Which is why the “accepting a pardon requires admission of guilt” is such a horrible take. It came from a SCOTUS case where a person was fighting to be able to turn down a pardon so he could retain his fifth amendment protection and not be compelled to testify. The court argued that a person may want to reject a pardon because accepting it could make it appear that they are guilty.

The thing is that any pardon from Biden will likely be immediately followed by Trump’s pardons of 1/6 offenders. That would change the news cycle and make Biden’s pardon seem benign.

1 board appointments are extremely political. Look at how many boards are appointed by legislatures and governors. People get on them constantly by who they know or who they’re connected to. Which is why it’s no surprise at all why Hunter Biden got on some boards over more qualified people. It’s also funny people get riled up over that when they hate people like Fauci who are experts and think they can “do their own research” or support someone like RFK.

2. I thought weaponizing the DOJ was the worst thing that could happen and we have a whole committee in Congress to stop this? So why should one of the first acts be to punish Hunter Biden?

I understand his decision, and I agree largely that it was political. But this is a very bad look, and I was hoping he would not do it.

Absent a legacy media that will make the case and absent a comparable media ecosystem for liberals to that which exists for the right, it will look as nothing more than mere family favoritism and corruption. The Democratic Party will not sell it either, even if they try, as they can't message or sell anything like Republicans do. So what, for instance, that Trump appointed Charles Kushner to an ambassadorship? I get the difference, but the public will not. Granted, that wouldn't matter anyhow. But this doesn't help.

Further, the Trump Justice Dept. will find another way to get Hunter back in court somehow. So, this is a very bad move.

Not normally but I wouldn't leave my son in the hands of the unprincipled people coming into power. I stated months ago that I hoped he wouldn't but seeing who is being chosen in this administration and what they are saying, I can't blame him.
This is exactly my take on it as well. There's also the added and already documented threats of political retribution by Trump et al.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but it is noteworthy that Trump previously pardoned Charles Kushner - for witness tampering and making illegal campaign contributions - who has recently been chosen by Trump to be the ambassador to France.

I don't approve but I can understand why he did it. In any other universe or convergence of circumstances, it probably wouldn't have even been considered.

Really, who cares. Every president pardons people at the end of their term. Do you believe that hunter did something so outrageous that he shouldn't be considered? He's not a murder.

I believe Hunter has paid for his wrong doings. The only reason he is where he is and there wasn't a slap on the wrist plea, is because of his father.

But, we should keep this thread around, so we can compare when trump starts pardoning the insurrectionist.

Or maybe Biden didn't have any Taliban leaders to free...

Don’t agree on principle with it in the slightest, and also don’t care in the slightest. It’s meaningless in the grand scheme of things but it’s about goddamn time the Democrats stop conducting themselves all prim and proper while the other party is completely devoid of any rules, decorum, or decency.

It was just a deep-state political hit job anyway that never would have been prosecuted except conservatives just want to stop Biden from making America great again after Trump ran America’s economy into the ground after his failed COVID experiment.
