Biden pardons Hunter | Biden commutes sentences of nearly all federal death row inmates to life in prison

The President's pardon power may turn out to be the biggest problem and manifest itself in ways we haven't thought of. Of course, Trump will be shopping for bad people to do his bidding and handing out pardons to them. "Russia if you are listening" thing.

And, it could work the other way. Bad people shopping Trump. Just assassinate a Trump enemy and expect all your crimes to be pardoned. Trump would claim there's no evidence I have ever talked to this murderer but he's being treated so badly that I just have to pardon him. A signal pardon if you will.

Expect Trump to push the pardon power really quick to see if the public will bother to protest. And I bet his buddy Putin will even suggest this.

Well, he can't pardon state crimes. And murder is a state crime.
 
Trump campaigned openly of pardoning the nonviolent J6ers……so yea.

Trump should tell Biden at their Wednesday meeting that he will pardon Hunter, sparing POTUS from having to pardon his own son (bad look internationally).
 
Bill Clinton pardoned his brother, Roger. It's not like Biden doesn't have a precident.

About three months ago, I predicted Biden would pardon/commute Hunter before he left office and got shouted down by a bunch of people on this board/predecessor board saying they hoped Biden would never do something so terrible and how it showed a disrespect for the rule of law.

I’ll still be beyond pissed if Biden pardons or commutes Hunter. That would be total BS.

1. We talked about DC, which is federal and which Trump could pardon completely.
2. There are at least 10 GOP governors who would gladly pardon anyone Trump asked them to. What's his name in Texas, DeSantis, Noem, Missouri, Sarah Sanders, whoever runs MI/AL, etc.

It's easier to count the GOP governors who wouldn't pardon a Trump assassin, and I don't know how much longer any of them have if term limited. DeWine, Kemp, the guy in VT, maybe the guy in UT.

Biden sent his # 3 at the doj to the nyc da’s office to resurrect Alvin brags case because Bragg was going to drop it. Biden was trying to put trump in jail by proxy so I’m not sure trump wants to help Joe out by saving his son’s ass.

I've said that Trumpers went all-in on his idiocy in 2016, and when he turned out to be who we said he was, there was no going back. They were committed and thus did they elevate him to god-like status and we know the rest. To admit now that he's completely FOS would be an admission that everything they've done the past four years was BS.

So maybe liberals are like this in a different way? We went all-in on the rule of law stuff. We excoriated Trump for pardoning his peeps, and we made it a really important campaign issue. So if Joe were to commute Hunter (which, given that Hunter's crimes are almost never prosecuted in that way), it would be an admission that we hyped that shit too far?

Otherwise, I can't understand why anyone would be pissed. Hunter already suffered a lot, and he didn't really do anything particularly serious. Trump is going to pardon everyone associated with J6, which is much, much worse.

Because at some goddamned point I'd actually like to say I voted for decency. Hunter is a piece of shit. Just because his daddy has the power to save him is precisely the reason he shouldn't. Nobody else would get that treatement.

1. Hunter is less a POS than the median American.
2. Nobody else would have gotten the treatment Hunter has gotten, so it would be like fighting unfair with unfair.
3. Whether or not it's the right thing to do, why get pissed off about that of all things? It's so tiny and insignificant.
