Bill Maher apparently spent 2.5 hours with Trump at the White House, a date arranged by Kid Rock. This is his 13 minute book report. I know some on here believe I secretly like trump etc. I loathe him, actually, believing him to be completely lacking of humor, empathy, simple kindness, while possessing so many of the worst characteristics of mankind, greed, vindictiveness, lust for power, etc. That said I did find some comfort in Maher's report on this Trump he encountered that does not reveal himself in public, especially since we are stuck with this fuck for 43 more months. Also curious about the psychological aspect here. Why is he one person in public and apparently capable of humor, thoughtfulness, etc. In private?
Have others watched and if so, thoughts?

I’ll definitely take the time to watch this and will report back on my thoughts after doing so. But before even watching, your synopsis kind of touches on something that I’ve wondered about Trump. My FIL is close friends with Thom Tillis and apparently Tillis swears by the fact that Trump is a completely different person in private versus his public persona.

Is Maher knowingly a part of the whitewashing or that gullible?

Maher mentions trump disappearing people like it's a quibble about a khaki suit or dijon mustard, then returns glazing.

Poor Bill...

The report was entertaining ( I like Bill the comedian ) and very telling both about Bill and Trump.

My takeaway is that Trump the consummate con man sociopath charmed and duped the naive Bill. The warm report from Bill that his audience responded to positively must have pleased Trump so much... mission accomplished

This was my takeaway as well. I watched the whole thing and it was all what I would expect from Maher. The only weird thing to me is he made several references to how liberals would be mad at him for all of this. I don't know why anyone would be outraged over him cozying up to Trump. That's the same Bill Maher as always.

How much of this “book report” by Maher includes audio of Trump talking. I can’t stand hearing his voice.

Maher sucks. His time of relevance has passed and he, as many would, is just grasping at whatever he can to retain some sort of relevance.

He had no respect for his writers during the strike. He’s not respected by his comedic peers (I listen to hours of comedy podcasts each week and when Maher is mentioned he’s the joke). He castigates his audience when they don’t laugh at his dull jokes. He’s just unfunny and out of touch.

I’m glad Larry David wrote his piece about Maher’s dinner with Hitler, and got Maher in a huff. Dude got charmed by a con man. That’s what they FUCKING do!
 
Interesting. I'm under no illusions that Trump is a cross between Gandhi and Einstein behind the scenes but Maher is not the first guy that has said that Trump is a different person, more empathetic, more introspective when there's not a camera on him.

Of course he is. All entertainers are vastly different when not on stage. DJT is first and foremost an entertainer. So is Maher. They both are narcissistic beyond imagination and therefore they automatically share a kindred spirit.

I don't know about narcissistic but absolutely entertainers. When it comes to keeping the spotlight on him, Trump is one of the best. Of course it was much less of a problem when he was boffing socialites and prostitutes and ending up on page six of the NY Post. Now he's deploying the military to US cities and bombing sovereign nations to keep attention on himself.
