Tony the Tiger notwithstanding, there’s never been anything to like about Clemson. They’re a sub carolina school that has often featured gridiron -inspired hardcourt play. Brad Brownell is a cagey coach who gets the most out of his players just the same and they’ll come to Chapel HIll with their fur ruffled and their feline necks bowed to the task. Nothing about past records matter to Brownell and he’s done his best to erase the memory of them. Still, one’s mind wanders to thoughts of classic historic battles of the past that pitted brains versus brawn, especially when the good guys, the smart one, controlled the terrain and fought with spirit, fire, and strategically. Cowpens, Agincourt, and Midway come to mind. But if you are a fan then you might ponder the Battle of The Pelennor Fields and then cast your thoughts to our modern-day Aragorn, the unhesitant, hard-charging, Seth of Menomonee Falls. Perhaps the last of the full four-year warriors, look upon him one last time in his home, our home, and expect greatness.

Frontcourt; A strong and motivated Veesaar is joined by a similarly inclined Zayden High. Stevenson is arcing down at the moment.

Wings: Bogavac is the picture of middlin’ while Powell has prowess and fire. Jaydon Young is smart and emotional.

Guards: Derek Dixon is smart and motivated while Kyan Evans brings his Einstein. Seth Trimble is physical and spirit-filled.

Overall: Nine men play over 17 minutes (we have 8) for the Tigers with guards Hunter and Porter doing 28 and 27 per game. Dillon Hunter (7.7ppg, 4rpg, 3apg) anchors the defense and is the double heart of the squad along with Porter (9.9ppg). R.J. Godfrey leads the scoring with 11.5ppg and 5.1rpg). He’s 6-7 and strong – the paint is his place to prowl. At 6-10 Carter Welling scores 10.7ppg and grabs 5.7rpg. He too stays in the lane and around the backboard. Nick Davidson is also 6-10 but he roams and will shoot the three (35%) but scores 9ppg. Son of Greg, Ace Buckner brings good energy to the court (and a legacy) – he’s 6-4 and passes well with 8.3ppg.

Clemson is going to football-style this one and Carolina needs to work to keep the lane unclogged. Pace, movement without the ball, and pick and rolls all night long. Sticky, handsy defense will ignite run-outs and Trimble’s dives to the rim – patented and beloved – need to be part of the night’s highlights. The Tigers will want to brawl – The Tar Heels need to diminish the collisions and play the game as it ought to be played – the way it was played before smashing bodies went from a foul to a so-called style. And they will bait…Keeping Emotions in check – not easy on an already emotional night – will be key. Heels are called by Las Vegas at 3.5 favorites. Frankly, the biorhythms favor Clemson tonight, but we’re going with UNC by two.

Home game and we are undefeated at home. Senior night. We need our two out of three team players who will be playing to have monster games to have a chance. If a couple of the other players step up and overperform then I think we can get the win.

Play fast and get out on shooters. Clemson really struggles to score at times

Hopefully Stevenson is over whatever that was on Saturday

Feel a bit better about this one with Zayden High 2.0
