Look-In: The Gators are a pristine 10-0 with wins over Arizona St., and three ACC schools (Virginia, rival Florida State, and Wake Forest) among those ten. They score at 87 ppg, shoot 47% from the field (with 37% from the Trey/9.7 per game) and hit at 74% from the line. They start a big front-line with Alex Condon (#21, 12 ppg, 7 rpg, 6-11, So) and Nigerian Soph Rueben Chinyelu (#9, 6 ppg, 7 rpg, 6-9) then work with a three-guard perimeter with Senior Will Richard (#5, 6-4, 12 ppg, 5 rpg), star Walter Clayton Jr. (#1, 19 ppg, 3.6 apg, 6-0) who hits from everywhere, and Alijah Martin (#15, 15 ppg) in from Florida Atlantic for his swan song covid year. These exterior players are all good and are augmented by Slovenian Frosh Urban Klavzar and explosive Junior Denzel Aberdeen (#11, 7 ppg, 6-5). Sophomore Thomas Haugh is an inside-out threat at 6-9 (#10, 7 ppg, 6 rpg while Sam Alexis (in from UT-Chattanooga) is 6-8, experienced and scores at 7 ppg and grabs 4 rpg. This team is a good one and will certainly be a challenge. That said they have not played the type of competition as have the Tar Heels (thus their gaudy record and ranking).

Frontline: JWash is a smart guy and Lubin even brighter. Ty Claude has good looks in all categories and is especially fired up. Mr. Withers will be back home and has solid arcs across the board. Young Mr. James Brown is both strong and smart.

Wings: Drake Powell looks to fly and Ian Jackson has an above the fold physical. Cade Tyson is primed to pick up where he left off last Saturday.

Guards: The Physical Arc returns to Elliott Cadeau and the Mensa Mark is R.J. Davis’ top score. Trimble is strong, athletic, and brilliant.

Overall: The Heels have some good looks with Trimble and Powell leading the way. Should Tyson’s last outing prove solid rather than pyrrhic then he’s a third biorhythmic boon. Ty Claude is set to surprise and digging even deeper, James Brown, who has played within himself in spot moments well of late can step-up. Davis is a smart guy – Einsteinian even though his physical is lowly and Cadeau is athletic but only middlin’ brainy. The Gators have good arcs in their guard corps so that 3 on 3 battle looks to be a hot one. Interestingly, it appears that a the freshman wing duo, led by Powell, should make the difference while smart, together play from the pivots of Lubin, Washington, Claude, and Brown will hold their own in the paint (at least). Las Vegas calls this one for The Florida Men by 3.5. The Biorhythms see Carolina winning by 10 proving the worth of the gauntlet they have run to open the season.

a must-win for the Tar Heels -- probably this and the UCLA game. Lose one and certainly if we lose both, we're back in the 2022-23 season doom loop.

Withers/VAL on their A games can compete with the FL front line, I suspect

Rebounding will be key. Cannot let UF crash the offensive glass

How about we split the difference?
Vegas says Fla by 4 or 5
Your ritmos says Heels by 10

So let’s say: Heels win it by 5…

Flummoxed by the inability to make shots. Alarmed about turnovers and lapses in concentration. Heartened by the stubborn refusal to quit in the face of great adversity.

The strategy to dramatically front load the schedule with Top Ten teams seems quite likely to backfire if post-season is the singular measure.

The Tar Heels are 6-5 with four losses to highly ranked squads:

#1 Kansas 92-89
#4 Auburn 85-72
#10 Alabama 94-79
#7 Florida 90-84

A fifth loss came to Michigan State, 94-91.

How much can these young men’s spirits withstand?

Perhaps their spirits could withstand a bit more if they would start making their shots, quit turning the ball over so much and to concentrate more on defense. Then they wouldn't be so flummoxed. Boom! Spirits lifted!

I depend on North Carolina basketball to take my mind off the upcoming horrors from the next Trump presidency.

Looks like I better get back into reading books.

Current rankings:

#8 Kansas
#2 Auburn
#6 Bama
#7 Fla
#18 UCLA
# 20 Mich. State
#22 Dayton

and only one game played in the Dean Dome ( Bama)

That is one absurd early season schedule🤯
