Look-In: Georgia Tech has played two ranked teams (#18 Cincinnati and #21 Oklahoma). They’ve lost those contests. Four wins have come over Directional Schools (West Georgia, Texas Southern, Charleston Southern, and Central Arkansas). Unexpectedly North Florida claimed a victory over the bugs. Georgia also beat them. Their point guard Javian McCollum is out for now but backcourt play can be strong with 6-3 former Gardner-Webb Running Bulldog Lance Terry (14.6 ppg) and Sophomore Nathien George (6-3, 11 ppg 5.9 ASSISTS PER GAME) is clutch. Senegal’s Baye Ndongo is their top inside man at 6-9 and scores at a 12.8 clip while grabbing 7 rebounds. Fifth year Techster 6-8 Luke O’Brien mans the wing (7 ppg, 5 rpg) and a very big freshman, Doryan Onwuchekwa contributes 4 points and 6 rebounds. Two bench players are key: 6-8 one-time NC A&T Aggie Duncan Powell averages 7 points and 6 rebounds but has had some big nights already while freshman big guard Jaeden Mustaf (#3) scores at 9.5 per game. Coach Damon Stoudamire is an up and comer and this is a dangerous squad.

Frontcourt: The rhythms call for the return of Washington while Ven Allen Luben has it all. Withers shows braininess and Ty Claude is all below the fold. James Brown is also rather subdued.

Wings: Powell is cagey and Ian Jackson even more so. Cade Tyson has some of the same ritmos.

Guards: Smart and slippery would be Cadeau and athletic is the mark for R.J. David. Seth Trimble counts on his passion.

Overall: The Tar Heels haven’t shot well of late. There’s a good deal of shrewdness in this bunch at the moment. They have their wits about them. Smart play, ball movement, and coordination would be a boon against this middlin’ team. The Physical Arc lands on Davis and sagacity visits with Cadeau. Trimble brings on a big dose of fury. Washington and Luben are strong and mobile men. Jackson continues his streak. Tech does not look to be about to engineer anything but Carolina appears primed to “Play Smart, Play Hard, and Play Together.” Las Vegas says Carolina by 16.5. Ritmos say UNC by 10.

Welp. This season feels a lot like 2022 to this point. Gotta start a turn-around somewhere.
