Look-In: The LaSalle Explorers are rated by the people who do that kind of thing higher than Georgia Tech so today’s team is no pushover on paper. They’ve defeated American, another historical figure in Lafayette, Cornell, Drexel, lost to UC San Diego, beat Temple, were defeated by UIC, and topped Stetson on a season-opening 6-2 run. Since they have lost to Northeastern and St. Joseph’s to make their overall record 6-4. Their leading scorer is 6-0 Corey McKeithan a 5th-year from Rider who averages 18.8 per game. He is a man of Earl Monroe-like moves. Big guard Daeshon Shepherd (6-4, hits for 12 ppg) and Venezuelan Wing Man, Andres Marrero (6-3, 8 ppg, 3 rpg) fill out the perimeter while underneath Big Man Demetrius Lilley scores at 9 ppg and grabs 7 rebounds a contest (6-9). Swedish Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi also adds bulk at 6-8 (6 ppg, 3 rpg) and New Yorker Mac Etienne goes even bigger at 6-10 off the bench (5 ppg, 5 rpg). Waterbug Freshman Deuce Jones rounds out the dangerous Explorers (6-2, 9 ppg). McKeithan is a good guard and Jones is promising. Watch out for Marrero today – his ritmos are elevated. So too with the Nord in the paint.

Frontcourt: It is time for Washington to show-out. His rhythms are good and like most of the rest of the team he is smart. Ty Claude is strong and fired up. Lubin is all flame and Withers has got the hops.

Wings: Great ‘want to’ and intel from Powell. Jackson is cagey. Tyson is Mensa and joins the impassioned to play club too.

Guards: Steady arcs across the board for Cadeau. Trimble is soaring in all categories. R.J. Davis is brainy.

Overall: A week of studying, acing exams, and individual work-outs topped off by some good and fruitful scrimmaging are what one hopes happens during the week of finals. Film, strategy, and planning for the staff. Time to show discipline. Love the overall Newtonian Intel Arcs for the Tar Heels today. They’re smart as a group. Davis, Trimble, Powell, Tyson with 100s in Thinking with JWash right there at 90. Physicals are not astronomic but there Trimble and Withers stand out. Hopefully Elliott Cadeau has vanquished the sick that had slowed him for the last week of games. It would be wonderful if Ty Claude, who had been showing great toughness in the paint, has recovered from his corneal abrasion that kept him out of the Tech game because he looks like the beast much needed. Lubin’s fire is also a necessity. Who looks to lead? It is a Trimble game but do not look away from Drake Powell – quiet, effectiveness from Washington and an R.J. Davis on the hunt for his spots should round out a return to form for Cadeau. Las Vegas is a little crazy with Carolina by 21.5…Ritmos say, UNC by 15.

Historically, exam break games have often been poor performances. Not losses so much as disjointed efforts against relatively weak opponents. For obvious reasons but given the struggles of this team to date, worrisome.

The week off and additional practice time probably helps this particular team. Think a lot of what we saw was a frustrated team with a Maui hangover. It really would be tough to play worse than they have in the last 2

I think Elliot will be much better. I'd like to see them try to get Drake/Tyson involved offensively, and of course the bigs too. La Salle doesn't have a lot of size

For the Explorers, Lilley (6-9) and Etienne (6-10) are bruisers. I don’t see evidence of more but may be mistaken.

McKeithan and Jones are quick and fast.

Look for the other team to go off today and for the Heels to be lackluster. And this has nothing to do with biorhythms. Simply a historical look back on how the Heels perform in games like this.
That said, UNC prevails in a spirited “come back” in the second half… once they’ve reawakened (woke?) from their exam week slumber. Heels are favored by 21 at the moment… but I’ll bet they do NOT cover. Hope I’m wrong.

Who actually cares if EC can have good games only against bad teams? Isn't that the definition of a good player versus an elite player?

Hes just an average pg who cant shoot unfortunately
I want to disagree but right now that’s exactly what he is lol. I think both he and RJ benefited greatly from having bigger players like Harrison Ingram and Cormac Ryan on the wing and Bacot in the middle last season.

Neither of them are tall enough or athletic enough to consistently break down the defense on their own without other guys stepping up to help share the load offensively, and they aren’t getting enough of that help yet.

Well, can't shoot is definitely correct. He's going to need a pullup mid range and floater at least
