Look-In: The first visit to Chapel Hill from one of the Left-Coast Interlopers commences tonight at 7 pm. Highly-rated academically (#2 of public universities to Carolina’s #5), the Golden Bears are a mediocre basketball team. Their best win of their 8-8 record came against USC (not Sub Carolina but Southern California) back in November. Just the same they have an interesting roster and are led by a baby-faced sophomore, Andre Stojakovic (son of the Serbian NBA stand-out, Peja) who is developing a complete game and scores at 20 ppg (#2, 6-7). The other Bear to watch is Freshman Scorer outta Georgia, Jeremiah Wilkinson (#0, 6-2, 13 ppg) who will come off the bench. Also of interest is the unlikeliness of starter D.J. Campbell journey from Cullowhee to Berkeley–a 6-2 guard, starting and averaging 7.5 ppg, Campbell played just last year for the Catamounts at Western Carolina. Out of Mali in the Pivot for the Bears is Mady Sissoko (6-9, #12, 6 ppg, 7 rpg). Texan RYTIS PETRAITIS (6-7, #31, 7 ppg and 4 rpg) is a forward and a perpetual motion machine. He’s “into” everything. The only other Bear of note is JOVAN BLACKSHER JR., a waterbug of a 5-11 point guard averaging 11 ppg and 3 assists. Joshua Ola-Joseph (6-7, 8 ppg) and Lee Dort (6-10, 3 ppg, 5 rpg) bolster the frontcourt. Unlikely to see action are two names of note on the roster: Hugh Vanderweghe is the nephew of NBA all-star Kiki Vanderweghe and Stephon Marbury II. Coach Mark Madsen (one known as Mad Dog) is also an NBA veteran and the tallest coach in the Atlantic Coast Conference (6-9). A lot of these guys have good biorhythms tonight, especially Stojakovic, so there may be some staying power in this line-up for their first trip to The Southern Part of Heaven. May it ultimately prove Hellish just the same.
Frontcourt: Jalen “The Block” Washington is a smart guy and Ven-Allen Lubin has his best rhythms of the year, both strong and thoughtful. Withers also is biorhythmically loaded tonight. James Brown is ready to do damage as well. Ty Claude is fired up.
Wings: Drake Powell has all the arcs and Ian Jackson is right there with him. Even Cade Tyson has very fine looks.
Guards: R.J. Davis finally has good biorhythms (he has not had truly good arcs since very early in the season). Elliott Cadeau is athletic and a thinker while also calm. Seth Trimble Is downright Newtonian in Intel.
Overall: Can I say it? This Tar Heel Team looks Loaded for Bear tonight. The First-year Dynamic Duo of Powell and Jackson appear ready to take flight and Cadeau and Davis are primed. Trimble is inching closer to being fully back in shape as well with his sky-high cerebral measure. Joining Trimble in the Mensa Club is Jalen Washington (Intel seems to be increasingly the mark to watch with #13) while second-center Lubin looks poised to play good minutes in the post. Withers appears to be the Good Jae’Lyn this evening. Should they see playing time, Cade Tyson and James Brown look like they’ve got some things to prove. Looking over this biorhythm tallies for Intel both squads are overall off the charts – as it should be when Cal and Carolina meet. Las Vegas has UNC by 14.5. The biorhythms can’t argue with that though the Bears showed no quit versus VaTech their last time out and mounted a strong come-back after being down 20+ so don’t take these men lightly just the same. This game could be more interesting than many are expecting.
