Yep. Total utter BS. These fans on NC pro sports teams are the opposite of bandwagon. We’ve had to endure a lot of suckitude (not as much with the Canes) and have stood by our teams. He thinks if you get way more excited about your team when they are doing well vs. when they suck, you are a bandwagon/fairweather fan, but that’s a compete”y idiotic and nonsensical take.

My uncle was a professor emeritus at Duke and he and Terry Sanford created the RTP and you’re right the NJ shit is easy pickings but writing off the canes fans as bandwagon is a bit harsh considering the immigration and acceptance of the locals? Hopefully we get to win the cup and add another feather to the old north state hat!

I’ll be honest, I was taken aback by your response(s) I have no ill will towards you or anyone else. The world is too fucked up to be at odds over sports.

I’m old enough to vividly remember when the Panthers showed up. They went to the NFC championship game their second year, and I watched all my friends abandon their teams that they grew up cheering for. It was exacerbated for me personally because they were in the NFC west with my 49ers and they were kicking our ass.

I had similar experiences with Hurricanes fans. I loved Hockey long before the canes won in 2006. But when they won, people that I’d known my whole life who couldn’t have cared less about Hockey were suddenly the biggest “caniacs”. They didn’t know a blue line from a baseline but they were in your face about it.

At the end of the day, it’s not that serious. And I’m much more mellow about it than I used to be. It just doesn’t bother me nearly as much.

But fuck Vegas forever. Go canes.

My Fandom
But my Hockey rules knowledge is superior to my knowledge of the rules of Field hockey or Lacrosse And when UNC is in the finals for these sports I am "the biggest fan"
