Shakin Sherman Tate of The Blazers,the great frontman and good friend passed last night. I wanted to get this out to all. Sherman we all love you and will miss playing music with you. Rock on Shakin

RIP. I knew Sherman but not well at all.

Sherman fronted this band...maybe more prominently he ran the Chapel Hill Franklin Street Record Bar during the 1980s and was a "man about town."



The Blazers were a 1980 Chapel Hill, NC area band featuring Rick Miller and produced by Don Dixon. Rick has had many musical lives including Rick Rock and later P.Hux (Parthenon Huxley).

The back of University Baptist Church in the upper left corner…..University Methodist’s steeple in the left background.

That’s the remains of the bank’s drive-up “windows” on the left….was it a BB&T?

So, it’s the “finishing” up of the demolition of that part of University Square.

That's where the basketball court stood (and pool). I played some memorable games there and watched even more over the years.
