If he shot from 200 meters away, that would give him plenty of time to make a getaway. I'm betting he used a hat and sunglasses and broke the rifle down into a duffle bag. We should have security video clip on the news in the next 30 minutes or so if the guy is still on the loose.
I thought they said suspect in custody?

It isn't me or Ram who are so threatened by differing opinions that we are on a message board applauding the possible death of someone because of different political views. You guys are the party of tolerance and inclusion right? In reality it’s just the opposite.
This is so fucking soft lol. Almost everyone in here is condemning what happened but you’re just scraping the barrel for something to grovel and get bent out of shape about. It’s pathetic.

Nobody is applauding. Everyone is appalled. Stop lying in some ridiculous effort at whatever it is you are doing. This should not happen to anyone. Ever. Period. Nobody should use language and words that ratchet our political temperature up to such a point. So just fucking stop. Please for the love of humanity stop.

OK. Guess we're moving towards that civil war y'all have been calling for.
I cannot speak for others. But I want to be clear: I have been warning about the potential for a rise in violence. I believe that the rhetoric currently online is extremely dangerous, and we are playing with fire as a society. I believe that it is being inflamed by both sides. I believe that the most hateful propaganda, right now, is coming from the Right and that our president enjoys fanning the flames. I in no way support any of it. Nor do I believe that it is necessary.

This type of tick-tock of violent acts makes my stomach churn. I have too much ability to imagine the in vivo circumstance, and given the number of trauma horror stories I've read and heard straight from the victims, I also have too much context to shut-off the imagination. I get nauseous. I am nauseous.

For years and years, the right-wing has been calling the left traitors, said they were intentionally destroying America, spread noxious conspiracy theories and have talked at length and repeatedly to "second amendment solutions." They fucking pose with AR-15s for Christmas and haven't found a shooting perp they didn't like, so long as he killed liberals.

For most of my life, the left did not go along with these framings. Now that we have a terror state under Trump, it would be a lie to turn the rhetoric down. They literally are fascists, all of them. They talk like fascists, they act like fascists -- everything is Fuhrer style government.

So of course you would blame both sides.

It is never going to stop until the GOP is made to feel consequences for it. It is no accident that their messaging has been laden with violence for years; it's literally all they have because they have no actual ideas except authoritarianism. They will return to the messaging anew, guaranteed. It's structural within the party.
I blame both sides because both sides are at fault. Remember years ago when liberals ran an ad showing Paul Ryan (?) throwing an old lady off a cliff because he wanted to reform Medicare? You don't think that Dems generalizing about Republicans as all racist, homophobe, transphone, neo Nazi, white supremacists, etc matters?

All Trump's rise to power has done is make the rhetoric 10x worse on the left, starting early on with a Dem holding the severed head of Trump in a pic.

To David French's points, this is the problem with MAGA discrediting elections through baseless fraud claims and discrediting the courts through political machinations that lead to ideologues, rather than jurists, on the bench. When people are told "act through the ballot box and the courts" but then watch a strongman corrupt both, it just makes everyone more cynical (and makes people disinclined to listen to these sorts of "rule of law" morality pleas by people like French). Unfortunately I think incidents like this one are going to push us further towards authoritarianism and political violence, rather than away from it.

The "left" didn't shoot anyone or advocate for anyone to be shot or that killings related to gun violence were just a part of life to be accepted if we have the 2nd Amendment
Nope, the left is just fine and dandy with stabbing people on trains. The left has absolute zero credibility with respect to crime.
Yeah that was a million times worse than this. Where was the outrage then?
It is hiding with all the outrage displayed by the burning and riots from GF.

You sir, are a fucking idiot.

Nobody is ok with people being stabbed on trains, planes, or automobiles.

Your wide swath of blame for the ills of this society is so off base that it is mind numbing. You are part of the problem with what is wrong with the US, and not just b/c of "R" or "D" but because of what apparently motivates you. And that is quite obviously a whole lotta HATE
