Just stopped and got a Turkish coffee at Quamaria in Durham. Delicious but a ton of cafffeine so I’m not drinking it all. They didn’t offer a black coffee and this was suggested as pretty close.

Drink Black and White most of the time for my day to day, will occasionally get Counter Culture but not as good imo.

I resisted the coffee fad for a long time. But I do enjoy it. But only cold and with lots of milk.

By far, my most long standing hobby has been home coffee roasting. I think I've been doing it for about 20 years now. I really enjoy of getting to try different beans from coffee growing regions around the world and I can't purchase better quality coffee than what I make at home.

I typically get the Cuban blend or the Jamaican blend from Costco or whatever is on special at the grocery store. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for outstanding coffee but right now, I can never tell much of a difference once you get past the Maxwell House level.

Maybe I should go to a more premium coffee brand. Anybody have something they like and can actually tell the difference?

Beyond that, anybody have ways they like to prepare it, especially at home? Apparently, I have a mid to high range drip coffee maker, but that might be all marketing slop. What grind level works well for you? What's your favorite teaspoon of ground coffee to 8 oz of water ratio?

I have a good friend who does that. He's the one that introduced me to that Finca Kilimanjaro. My wife and I lived with them for a while when our health was bad and my son was having trouble getting his house and our future apartment done. We'd get 50 lb bags at a time. He's telling me that the competition for it is tougher and they run out earlier every year. That's when he samples.

I do 68 grams of coffee to 40 ounces of water.

I've been meaning to try Black and White coffee but it's pricey - we like to go to local coffee shops when we travel and buy bags of whole bean coffee - there's also a guy in my neighborhood who's retired but has started a side hustle where he gets beans from all over the world and then roasts them himself to sell - ive attached a link if anyone is interested

Drank energy drinks for the longest time (Red Bull Sugar Free). Knew I needed to quit but not big on hot drinks. On vacation July 2023, the hotel was staying had a Dunkin in the lobby. Tried an iced coffee with almond milk and have never had an energy drink since. Now it is a cold brew with almond milk usually from my Keurig. That’s my go to pre workout in the AM.

It's funny we have 4 different ways to make coffee in my house - a drip coffee maker, a French press coffee maker, a cold brew coffee maker and recently we got a pour over coffee maker

My favorite tasting is the French press but I'm typically really lazy early in the morning so I typically just do the drip.

It's not even that much more effort to do the French press but it just seems to be my default.

During the week when I don't have a lot of time I'll just do drip coffee - my coffee maker has an option to make a single cup - over the weekend when I have more time lately we've been using the pour over coffee maker a lot recently -i think it makes the best coffee

Do you have a model you like? I see a $10 version all the way up to $150 version. Is there any difference other than appearance?

When I use whole bean, I grind the night before and put it in a tupperware container. Seems my wife vehemently objects to the sound of the grinder at 5:30AM. Go figure. She didn't even buy it when I told the coffee was just waking her up twice. Well, the bottle was plastic and she doesn't have much of an arm.

I love coffee. Light or medium roast at most, my own grind, French press, some whole milk.

Is Third Place still around in Raleighwood?
