Court orders being ignored or disregarded by Trump

We should probably have a thread devoted to this. I'll start:

Judge Boasberg called a hearing at 5pm today, to give the government an opportunity to explain whether they had intentionally defied his order or merely "screwed up." Given a chance to explain their mistake -- the DOJ notified him that they will not be participating. Instead, they asked the appeals court to remove him (and not even by motion).

I think it's fair to say that the administration has no intention of obeying any judicial ruling they disagree with, at least in the immigration context.

This administration reminds me of a child when the child realizes their parents ultimately can't make them do anything nor prevent them from doing whatever they want.

Trump Admin = Child
Courts = Parents
Trump's public disdain for the judicial system has been a consistent theme throughout his long history with the courts. That includes judges, opposing parties and their attorneys, jurors and witnesses. Any proceeding in which he is subject to examination for his actions is politically motivated, weaponization of the system, fraudulent, corrupt, or some combination thereof. Except, of course, proceedings which have a favorable outcome for him. Personal accountability is a completely incomprehensible concept.

I would go a step further and say this administration will not obey any judicial ruling they disagree with no matter the issue or context

He's going to do what he wants and no judge, politician, election etc re going to stop him.

I have been saying since his first term that this was the end plan. If he had beat Biden in 2020, he'd still be president today term limits be damned. Sadly I didn't have a platform big enough for the nation to listen and stupid shitbag selfish Americans voted in their own country's demise.

Of all the scenarios that could mean the worst possible outcome for the country, and potential violence, this is the one that is the most worrisome: blatant defiance of the courts (including the Supreme Court) and/or Congress.

So the justice department did show up. They are making the claim that by the time the judge issued his order, the planes were already over international waters and the judge no longer had jurisdiction.

Now I think that argument is going to get blown up pretty quickly, but at least they make an argument. That's a long way from Trump ignoring the courts.

It's not remotely a long way. They were told to turn the planes around. Period and point blank. The Administration willfully disobeyed that order.

I believe that the attorney said he was not going to provide any evidence because "national security." Which is basically giving a finger to the court and ignoring it. Hilariously, Boasberg was on FISA so he knows all about "national security." National security does not excuse the inability of the government to provide evidence of its bare assertions.

So while you think that's "a long way from Trump ignoring the courts" it is actually more or less the same.
