The Finnish president (center of the photo) played golf at Furman?

Did they arrange this so Trump got to hold his trophy highest (like he gets an extra scoop of ice cream at dessert that no one else is offered)?

Trump likes hanging out with South Africans these days, but amazing if Player plays at all at his age.

Trump’s Kennedy Center Head Rages Against WaPo Report on Financial Woes

“… With donors pulling financial backing and artists cancelling upcoming appearances, the Kennedy Center is $40 million in debt and has an operating deficit of $100 million despite turning a profit of $6 million less than two years ago, Post reporter Travis Andrews revealed on Friday.

“Oh Travis. This isn’t remotely journalism,“ wrote Ric Grenell, the Kennedy Center’s interim executive director. ”You’ve never looked at *any* of the financial details. You aren’t a financial expert. You’ve never been involved in high level budgeting. You’ve never seen the balance sheet. I’ve never talked to you.” …”

Grenell lobbied for the Secretary of State job. He eventually got to be head of the Kennedy Center instead. He seems bitter.

Far-Right Influencers Are Hosting a $10K-per-Person Matchmaking Weekend to Repopulate the Earth

The Natal Conference, which costs up to $10,000 to attend, features multiple matchmaking strategy sessions and onsite ministers so attendees can get married, WIRED has learned.

“… According to its website, the sold-out Natal Conference, taking place March 28-29 at a hotel operated by the University of Texas at Austin, has “no political or ideological goal other than a world in which our children can have grandchildren.” But the event, an earlier version of which was promoted by Elon Musk, features speakers like Pizzagate conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec and Crémieux, an online pseudonym linked, according to The Guardian, to Jordan Lasker, who discusses falling birthrates and promotes eugenics.

Natal Conference organizer Kevin Dolan, a father of at least six, according to Politico, has previously stated that eugenics—the belief that white people are genetically superior—and the pronatalist movement are “very much aligned.”

… However, an email obtained by WIRED promoting a preconference mixer held Thursday night reveals matchmaking may play a significant role at the conference and in the pronatalist movement more widely.

In the email to NatalCon attendees, Luke noted the conference had set up multiple sessions throughout the conference to strategize on the issue of matchmaking.

The email concludes by noting that there will be “some ministers attending if anyone decides to take the leap at the conference!” Luke also instructed attendees to “come up with great ideas” regarding matchmaking, which will be passed on to him “for implementation.” …”

Will there actually be single women attending this conference?

OK, enough of the lighter side of the news on a Sunday morning.

“When deportation flights carrying more than 250 migrants—alleged by the administration to be dangerous gang members—landed in El Salvador earlier this month, officials on the ground were surprised to see a small group of Venezuelan women on one of the planes.

The arrival of the women created a problem: The megaprison that was set to house the migrants under an agreement between the U.S. and El Savador didn’t have the capacity to hold female inmates. So the women were immediately returned to Texas, according to court filings.

… Mistakes are seen by Trump’s team as a worthwhile price to pay, people close to the president said, as they enact their top priorities, including the Elon Musk-led dismissal of federal employees, the use of wartime powers to deport migrants and steep tariffsthat have rattled markets.

“You only have so much time and you can’t waste the time, and you have to get it done,” Trump told Newsmax this past week in an interview.

Some of Trump’s advisers look upon past commanders in chief with disdain, including former President Joe Biden, who sometimes spent months deliberating before making a major decision. “The consequences of inaction are far outweighed by the benefits of moving swiftly and efficiently, even with minor setbacks,” White House spokesman Harrison Fields said. …”

I have to admit that ditherers drive me crazy but so to do knee-jerk know-nothings.

I have to admit that ditherers drive me crazy but so to do knee-jerk know-nothings.

But a lot of people LOVE the shoot first and maybe ask questions later approach:

“… A recent NBC News poll found Trump’s 47% approval rating as president is at its highest point ever, with a majority, 51%, disapproving of his performance so far. The same poll also found that on most issues, including economic and foreign policy-related matters, a majority of respondents disapproved—a potential warning sign for the president, pollsters and strategists said.

… Earlier this month, Rep. Gabe Vasquez (D., N.M.) was notified by a reporter that an office that manages an isolated desert site where the government stores radioactive waste was among the leases that would be terminated. Relocating workers could put the site’s operations at risk, he and other lawmakers stressed to the administration. The lawmakers later received a letter saying the termination had been revoked.

“It really highlighted the incompetence of what’s happening at DOGE, and everyone rang the alarm,” Vasquez said.

A Fox News poll conducted March 14-17 found 65% of respondents said they were worried that not enough thought and planning went into DOGE’s cuts.

… The speed at which Trump is moving also reflects a feeling among advisers that he needs to get as much done as possible before the midterm elections, given the potential for a change in the power balance in Congress.

“He is moving the football forward and that’s what so many people voted for instead of the status quo,” said Ken Willers, 63, a resident of Suwanee, Ga., who works in education and voted for Trump.

Willers acknowledged that Trump’s “bull in a china shop” style can make people uncomfortable. “He has nothing to gain by taking his time,” Willers added. “He has more to lose.” …”

I assume we’re not counting fleshlights as women? Because the attendees do.

Turkey protests:

[Probably not 2 million?]

Protesters return to Istanbul's streets for huge rally

“Hundreds of thousands of pro-democracy demonstrators have returned to the streets of Istanbul, Turkey, to show support for the city's jailed mayor.

Ekrem Imamoglu, who is seen as the main rival of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was arrested on corruption charges last week, sparking mass protests.

He denies the charges and says his arrest was politically motivated.

Saturday's crowds were so large they spilled from the site of the protest into a neighbouring park.

The chairman of Imamoglu's Republican People's Party (CHP) addressed demonstrators, reading out a letter from the jailed politician who is being held in solitary confinement. …”

Hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, gather at Istanbul rally to protest against Erdogan

After controversial arrest of Istanbul's mayor, week of unrest culminates in giant demonstration in Turkey's largest city, with some estimates putting crowd size in the millions

“…Ozgur Ozel, leader of the main opposition party CHP which organized the rally, said there were 2.2 million people in the crowd, but AFP was unable to independently confirm the figures.

“I’m not scared. I’ve only got one life, I’m ready to sacrifice it for this country,” said an 82-year-old woman in a headscarf, carrying a picture of Imamoglu and the Turkish flag. …”
