Pelley accurately accused Bari Weiss of being hired to "kill" CBS News, and it now appears that her job is done. The onetime Tiffany Network is now a shell of its former self. Somewhere Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite are spinning in their graves. American journalism of the old school (of which 60 Minutes was a prime example) is pretty much dead.

Rachel Maddow is livid over this decision by CBS to terminate Pelley.
What broadcast show will be next . . CBS Sunday Morning ?

I love how he's trying to blame Pelley for what's happening at CBS News. Weiss, this guy, and Ellison are all gutless cowards sucking up to Trump, and that's the bottom line.
Bari Weiss. That is a name to remember when/if sanity ever returns to the US. She was one of the willing tools in the destructiom of what America used to stand for. Bari Weiss, remember that name.

I doubt it, as CBS Sunday Morning has mostly been apolitical - it's traditionally been more focused on the fine arts and cultural pursuits. I think turning 60 Minutes from its historic role as a muckraking platform into whatever crappy "news" show they have planned for it is pretty much the final blow to CBS News as a legit news organization, which was the goal of Ellison and Bari Weiss. MAGAs will be thrilled with the demise of Dan Rather's old home, Trump 2.0 will continue to give Ellison whatever he wants, and so Ellison is satisfied.

What's ironic is that there are also rumors that the declining ratings of CBS News (gee, I wonder why?) will likely lead to Weiss being fired or forced out at CBS News soon. She's accomplished her task, so Ellison probably no longer has a use for her.

“New management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I’ve been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them. Recently, politicians have been invited to choose correspondents for interviews on the broadcast. Giving politicians control over 60 Minutes interviews is not how this is done. Finally, incompetence and unprofessionalism in the new management have wreaked havoc. In a case involving one of my stories, the entire program came within 19 minutes of not getting on the air at all.”

Why the President Tapped ‘Little Trump’ as His Intelligence Chief

Bill Pulte made the case that he would advocate for the administration’s foreign policy agenda

🎁 Housing Official Who Attacked Democrats Invokes a Disputed Family Legacy

“… Mr. Pulte, 37, no longer has any official connection to PulteGroup, which has built 800,000 homes across the country since the 1950s. He was pushed off the company’s board in 2020 after being elected to a seat several times since 2016.

And his family’s $500 million charitable foundation, run by an aunt and his father, issued a statement two years ago saying that “Bill Pulte does not represent, nor is he a spokesperson for, all members of the Pulte family, in any capacity.”

These days, one of Bill Pulte’s primary connections to the residential real estate business is a group of five aging mobile home parks he owns in Florida, some badly in need of repair.

His mobile home park investments were not readily apparent on his financial disclosure form because he listed parent companies but not the subsidiaries used to buy the properties in 2023 and 2024. Two of the trailer parks, in Palm Beach County, are only hours from a site where the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation is spearheading the construction of 179 rental homes for people who live below “the poverty line, often in overcrowded trailers,” according to the foundation’s website.

In a statement, a spokesman for Mr. Pulte said he owned “passive shares” in the mobile homes and had “no oversight or management in any of these companies.” The spokesman said the mobile homes “represent a very small part of his net worth.”…”
