Donald Trump's executive orders to root out diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives extended all the way to observance of certain holidays.

A leaked memo from the Defense Intelligence Agency shows personnel were instructed to suspend observances of certain holidays that do not specifically honor white men, including Holocaust Remembrance Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Black History Month, according to a document obtained by journalist Ken Klippenstein.

Intelligence officials are starting to leak to me now too. Here’s a memo Defense Intelligence Agency personnel received instructing them to suspend observances including:- Holocaust Remembrance Day- MLK Day- Juneteenth

'It's racist': Republican governor shamed for defunding state's lone Black college

Porter believes that the decision to cut funding for the university is related to Braun's order issued recently that bars government money going to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

Democratic Indiana State Rep. André Carson similarly shamed Braun for axing funding for the college and accused him of caving to right-wing pressure campaigns aimed at eradicating any talk of diversity inside government or the private sector.

Like woke, reactionary Republicans have harnessed legitimate grievances behind certain cultural tendencies among progressives to mount a much wider attack on any notions of diversity. They’ve wanted to attack universities, public schools, etc. This is their means to that end. And why it’s dangerous for supposed progressives to traffic in illiberal indentitarianism.

Black History month and Holocaust remembrance Day are a notch or three below most of the big holidays. I know MLK day was was pretty controversial when it came about but it's been around for a while and it's in a nice spot on the calendar. Surprised they're going after that one.

The other holidays that were in the memo are Women's History month, Asian American and Pacific islander heritage month, Pride, women's equality month, Juneteenth, national Hispanic heritage month, national disability employment month, and national American Indian heritage month. Outside of Juneteenth which again seems pretty recent, I don't think most people will miss these observances. And when I say going after, the memo said they're no longer be observing them, but Juneteenth and MLK, which are the only federal holidays, are still a day off for federal workers.

On the plus side, I guess the headline is a little misleading. There's no white male History month or anything like that. The two federal holidays that do celebrate white men are Washington's birthday which isn't going anywhere and Columbus Day which I suspect will end in the next couple of decades. The federal holiday that celebrates a jewish guy isn't going anywhere either.

I'm trying to remember when the history of Christian white men was ever ignored or excluded. Seems to me they had every day.

It's the proper response to such a hackneyed argument.
Well something is hackneyed. I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone say one way or the other if we need to celebrate Asian America and Pacific Island heritage month or national disability employment awareness month.

I don't see much need either. I also don't see much reason to care ,either.

Pettiness and meanness is the only real reasons to seek them out and go to the trouble of canceling them, though.
