A couple of friends and I saw the Braves beat him like a drum in Atlanta one night. The crowd gave Tommy Lasorda hell when he walked to the mound to take Fernando out of the game. Ah, good times.

I saw Fernando pitch a gem against the Braves in Atlanta in '82. It was right around the time the Braves began a long losing streak but still hung on to win the division on the final day of the season.

Stormed onto the baseball scene during the strike shortened '81 season with that iconic, look to the sky windup and Fernando-mania helped lead the Dodgers to a WS title. Remember well the night he and Dave Stewart both threw no-hitters on ESPN. RIP, Fernando.
