Diddy verdict is in

So true and so sad.
I don’t have a lot of good things to say about Trump being elected President this past election cycle, but there is one good thing— at least for me and my criminal defense lawyer colleagues— that I can say about it:
When I have a client with no prior felony convictions who is charged with a serious felony and is offered a probationary sentence on a reduced charge that is still a felony, and it is in their best interest to accept that offer, they usually express concerns about their job prospects upon conviction of a felony. When they do that nowadays, to alleviate their concerns, I tell them that they can be President of the United States. I couldn’t do that before this year.

I don't think the jury understood the case. After yesterday, I assumed they had reached guilty on the four lesser charges and were deadlocked as to the top charge. I think pretty much everyone assumed that, which is why Diddy was so glum yesterday. It doesn't make sense to find guilty on the top charge without finding that he engaged in sex trafficking. Well, that's the surface level view at least. I didn't follow any of the evidence in the case at all.
I think a lot of folks think sex trafficking is only kidnapping someone and then selling them out for sex. They don't understand if you force someone to have sex with someone else against their will that it's sex trafficking as well.

I've read about 50 civil suits against Diddy by victims. The claims about the level of consent in participation is varied. Some certainly could be seen as trading their body for fame (or the potential of fame). But there were a number whose allegations would match up with any reasonable definition of rape or sexual assault. I don't believe any of those victims were part of this trial. There were several allegations relating to minors of both genders. Of course these are just allegations without a showing of proof but these claims were remarkably consistent from the 1990s to 2020s.

I've read hundreds of civil suits relating to sexual assault and sex trafficking including pedos, the Diddy cases are some of the most disturbing things I've seen.
