Do you boycott?

Many, many years ago I stopped buying Nestle products because of something to do with powdered milk in Africa. I’ve never spent a cent at a Walmart but did go in one once. I also don’t eat from Domino’s or Chic-Fil-A. For a long time I did the same with Poppa John’s but my wife convinced me to drop that one.

I don’t wear these things on my sleeve - they’re not a cause for me - I don’t expect anyone else to join me. I have no illusion of harming any of these companies.

I was made to think on this because aside from being the birthdays of Roy Williams and Jerry Garcia today, August 1, begins the People’s Union (??) month long boycott of Lowe’s, McDonald’s, and Walmart. Lowe’s might be tough but I doubt I would have spent any money at McD or Walmart.

Interesting topic boycotts. Y’all do it any degree?

I try . I am weak when it comes going a mile up the road to Target
Sometimes not going to Amazon for a purchase is tough
My GF's kids love CHic-Fil-A We usually can steer them to Jason's Deli
I gladly "spend more" at the local Hardware rather than go to Lowes or HomeDepot
I did drop WaPo when Bezos decided he wanted admiration from trump rather than Journalism

I boycott sabra hummus for about a decade because the parent company is heavily involved in the illegal occupation of Palestine.

i left facebook in late 2019, twitter in 2020 and instagram earlier this year. feelsgoodman. fuck social media.

(i realize this site is a form of social media  )

I've got a buddy that left all forms of social media. Yesterday he sent along to me via text a photo of an article about the death of Bill Chamberlain. He is utterly out of touch in a lot of ways but he says he's good with it.

I haven’t been in a Walmart since 1999. I won’t buy Sabra hummus. Although I still have a Facebook account I haven’t visited it regularly in 4+ years (typically when my wife says “you have to see what your sister posted on FB”.)

There are probably other things I avoid but those immediately come to mind.

he's a couple of weeks behind but that's okay, i bet he's happier.

without social media, i count on this board and my friends to keep me informed on a lot of things.

I won't watch a Will Smith movie after the Chris Rock incident. I also won't pay for anything Kanye West related. That includes streaming his songs.

It's much easier, but I would never stay at a Trump hotel or buy anything that is sold by and benefits Trump.

There are more, but they aren't coming to mind.
