He got lucky with his PayPal bet (who would’ve ever thought that we’d be sending money over the internet? What a novel concept and innovation) and now the rest of us have to pay for it by dealing with his influence on our politics and government.

How much did you make off the obvious PayPal bet?

I mean his dad owned an emerald mine. What more evidence do you need on the internet. Case closed.

I grew up in the southeast USA. That’s pretty much all you need to know about what a terrible person I am. No emerald mine in the family though so maybe I’ll get a pass?

Do you know that you can respond to my whole post instead of individual points? Or is it because there are points in my original post that are too inconvenient for you to respond to?

Anyways, I was approximately zero years old when PayPal launched.

As for the emerald mine, do you really think I was implying that his dad owning an emerald mine is what made him racist?

You clearly know nothing about me, because I also grew up in the “southeastern U.S” and yes, I would say that growing up in that environment made me more racist than I would be otherwise.

I’m more concerned about Musk’s apparent belief that race factors into one’s IQ than the fact that his dad owned an emerald mine. Or the fact that Musk consistently promotes accounts on X that spew racist garbage. Or the fact that Musk has tweeted misleading information about Black on white crime. Or the fact that instances of racial slurs on X have increased x3 since he took over the platform. Or the fact that he is supporting an obviously racist candidate for president.

What tf do y’all get out of glazing Musk?

I mean. His father emigrated to South Africa from Canada two years after the implementation of apartheid, and wrote that “With no Whites here, the Blacks will go back to the trees,” in a letter Elon showed to his biographer, so ... At least we can say his father is virulently racist.

Judging by how quickly Elon turned Twitter into 4chan, I don't know if the apple fell far from the tree.

I grew up in Duplin County and was born in Truman's administration. I understand the inference. Otoh, if you are comparing the styles of racism of a predominately majority white culture with every means of power, including sheer numbers to the aggressive racism of the minority white ruled countries, you're comparing apples to oranges. Not that any racism seems justified to me, but the minority ruled countries had the full weight of government and full force of law behind every racist piece of legislature, something never true in the US. I don't know how old you are but I lived through the first generation of major changes in the South. He lived through the first generation of changes in his entire country. I know the impact I saw and I can't begin to understand what filtered down to him through his family's telling who felt forced to flee the changes.

I suggest your inference was a bit hasty and misguided.

The irony of the OP seems to be lost in the following replies. The internet allows such inferences to be accepted as true without more supporting evidence.
I don't know if Musk is personally racist or not. What matters is that he's pouring his resources into supporting the candidate who plainly is.
