Are we Racist or Americans? I'm starting to wonder.

ETA: Why not both because this doesn't ever end well. Says a 66 year old white anglo Saxon protestant aka WASP! Maybe it's just me but for the love of all that you see as Holy is Donald Trump your idea of how you want your children/grandchildren to behave? If so literally go fuck yourself!

At what point can we call it treason and get him on trial?
He is probably pretty far away. Legally, we have to be at war with Russia, and then there needs to be some overt act. Thoughts won't do it. Or there needs to be some sort of armed rebellion against the United States.

Even those Americans who spied for the Soviets like Robert Hansen or Aldridge Ames were not tried for treason. We weren't at war with the Soviets.

The last time we convicted any Americans of treason were defectors to Germany, and the radio people like axis Sally. There was also some weird case where a german-born tavern owner in Detroit got the death penalty for harboring a German escaped POW but it was later commuted to life. But all those were during world war II.

If not treason (though honestly seems like it is), there has a number of laws broken to personally engage with a disfavored foreign leader while actively engaged as a defense contractor. Harris has to win of course for anyone to give - rip, and has to dump Garland immediately
God willing she wins, dumping milquetoast Merrick has to be a tippy top priority, I agree.

Elon Musk’s PAC has been giving away a $1 million prize every day to a random registered voter in one of several swing states who sign a petition supporting the First and Second Amendments. The organization has also promised $47 to every registered voter who signs the petition. But it was reported yesterday that the Justice Department warned the group that the activity could be violating federal election law, and now it appears the giveaway has abruptly stopped.

Axios reports that Musk’s America PAC, as the pro-Trump group is called, curiously did not announce a winner of the $1 million prize on Wednesday.

Critics have said Musk’s giveaway was a thinly-veiled attempt at buying votes for Trump. The youth turnout in the U.S. is historically low, and the $1 million giveaway was only open to registered voters in states like Pennsylvania that could go to either candidate, suggesting that Musk was attempting to encourage the disillusioned to register—and return the favor of his giveaway by tipping the vote in Trump’s favor. “Long before he became one of Donald Trump’s biggest donors and campaign surrogates, South African-born Elon Musk worked illegally in the United States as he launched his entrepreneurial career after ditching a graduate studies program in California, according to former business associates, court records and company documents obtained by The Washington Post.

… What Musk has not publicly disclosed is that he did not have the legal right to work while building the company that became Zip2, which sold for about $300 million in 1999. It was Musk’s steppingstone to Tesla and the other ventures that have made him the world’s wealthiest person — and arguably America’s most successful immigrant.

… Musk and his brother, Kimbal, have often described their immigrant journey in romantic terms, as a time of personal austerity, undeterred ambition and a willingness to flout conventions. Musk arrived in Palo Alto in 1995 for a graduate degree program at Stanford University but never enrolled in courses, working instead on his start-up.
Leaving school left Musk without a legal basis to remain in the United States, according to legal experts.

Foreign students cannot drop out of school to build a company, even if they are not immediately getting paid, said Leon Fresco, a former Justice Department immigration litigator.

“If you do anything that helps to facilitate revenue creation, such as design code or try to make sales in furtherance of revenue creation, then you’re in trouble,” Fresco said. …”

Egregious hypocrisy and disregard for the rule of law.

“Ethical?” Wouldn’t that have eliminated Musk from immigrating here?
