Ultimately, I have zero expectation , and really zero care, as to whether this Epstein cover-up scandal mortally wounds Trump‘s presidency. I don’t think anyone should have any expectation that it will do much to damage Trump personally or politically, but it is nice to have the validation that, yes, the suspicion that Trump was directly involved in Epstein‘s sex trafficking of minors was correct all along, and it’s also nice to know that it is clearly causing him personal stress and discomfort. But the real cherry on top is the fact that it has the real potential to fatally splinter the MAGA base. That’s the real victory in all of this – not that Trump is going to suffer one iota politically, but rather that the Republican Party as a whole stands to suffer very significantly politically down ballot in 2026 and 2028.

Now, granted, it’s going to require the Democrats to actually grow a pair and learn how to hit the GOP where it hurts the most, but even as dysfunctional as they are, I have confidence that even the Democratic Party can’t fuck up the gift it is currently being handed on a silver platter in Trump covering up the Epstein stuff combined with the fact that the economy is headed for a potentially significant downturn over the next 18 months.

Edited to add: the added bonus is that we get to make fun of the board MAGAts for being supporters and enablers of a child diddler. That’s not to diminish or minimize the pain and trauma suffered by Epstein‘s victims, for whom I feel deep sadness and sorrow.

Speaking of cucks, is it just me or have we not heard from Ben Shapiro lately? Did Stephen Miller finally figure out he’s a Jew and send him to alligator Alcatraz?

1000%. I have no doubt whatsoever that an enormous number of powerful people, from every point along the political spectrum, used Epstein to give them access to all manner of deplorable, immoral conduct. There's not a single politician or major cultural figure in the last 40 years who would shock me if he shows up in the Epstein records.

The only relevance to any of this is that THE CURRENT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, MAGA DEITY, COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE GREATEST MILITARY EVER ASSEMBLED, AND PUTATIVE LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD is unwilling to be transparent about these records. Generally, logic does not allow the conclusion of X from things that are contrary to X. But this one is pretty binary. If this particular administration, which will support baseless conspiracy theories at the drop of a hat, is unwilling to share information about X, then the only logical assumption is that X is extraordinarily harmful to said administration.

Couldn’t agree more, and definitely could not have said it any better myself.

So, there are a lot cases where names aren't released, right? I think the ridiculous dog & pony show, where Bondi handed out already-known info to the influencers, included a lot of redacted names. Some were victims, I'm sure. But weren't some names that were linked to Epstein, but had no reason to suspect they were pedophiles, also redacted?

The people for whom I feel the most in this whole ordeal is all of our board Trump bootlickers who have somehow all simultaneously had the ignominious misfortune of having their busiest seasons at work during the summer. Sad!!

Speaking of cucks, is it just me or have we not heard from Ben Shapiro lately? Did Stephen Miller finally figure out he’s a Jew and send him to alligator Alcatraz?
Ben Shapiro believes the word of Trump, Bondi and Patel on Epstein.

Personally I don't think talking about Epstein is going to help Dems politically and attempting to pin Trump down with it won't work. Certainly fair game for those of us on message boards, though.

Obviously it is great that I don’t understand how the mind of a pedophile operates, but I am truly dumbfounded that some of the richest, most powerful, most influential people on the planet who could literally have anything and everything and anyone they want at the drop of a hat, risk it all for the ability to conduct statutory rape on teenagers. I just don’t get it. What on earth is the allure? What can you possibly get out of having sex with a 16-year-old that you can’t get out of having sex with, say, a 19-year-old – but the latter won’t land you in any legal precariousness.

OR! Perhaps don’t try to have sex with people your daughter or granddaughter‘s age or younger, in the first place! What a concept!

That’s a fantastic point and I think it’s not only totally fair but probably completely accurate. Great point. Definitely fun fodder those of us on message boards but ultimately the Democrats need to have viable ammunition on the economy and a plan to rescue the American middle class and lower class families that Trumpism is suffocating economically.

That said, I do truly believe that this episode, more than quite literally anything else has since Trump has been on the political scene for the last decade, has the greatest potential for most significantly crippling the MAGA movement by creating a big fracture within the base.

As I've said elsewhere (maybe in this thread?) there is no true way to fracture the MAGA base, at least while Trump is alive and/or actively leading the movement. This may help chase off some of the more "low-propensity voter" types who ended up voting for Trump in 2024 because it was culturally cool among their "manosphere" peers to do so - who will just go back to being disengaged entirely from politics - but the base itself cannot functionally be divorced from personal loyalty to Trump by anything, in my opinion. This is the kind of thing that could help form the fault lines if and when Trump dies or steps out of the picture and the right-wing podcast universe starts jockeying for the scraps of his influence and power that are left, though.

But I will say - this very much should be used as a comeback by Dems to any sort of future BS painting Dems as the party of pedophiles and creeps and/or somehow trying to pin Epstein and his activities on Dems.

Great points again. You’re probably right, honestly. You would think at some point I will just give up on the idea that any of the MAGA base can be persuaded. But I think, as you said, the true opportunity here is to damage the Republicans as a whole with the low-propensity voters that won them 2024 and likely 2016.

BellTime 87 a record quick ignore for me
It would be interesting to see a list of all of the usernames "BellTime" has posted under since January. At this point he's got to be pushing 20 or so. He reminds me of what Hugo Drax said to Bond in Moonraker after Bond kept showing up to thwart him despite all of his previous attempts to kill him: "You return with the tedious inevitability of an unloved season."
