ESPN gone from YouTubeTV

It was easy to find the game streaming on YouTube again last night. As long as this is the case, no reason to break down and pay ESPN for anything.
ESPN, had always had an inflated sense of worth. Maybe had they secured rights to all of the major sports, they would be worth a stand alone subscription. As it is they have just enough to piss me off and make me not want to watch sports.

Thankfully, YouTube streams have been delivering content, warts and all, I've paid for but not received. I am NOT happy with what Disney and ESPN are doing. It's time for some big guns to step in, and Alphabet has those. Does the ACC commissioner?

Over the next few days, you will receive a follow-up email with instructions on how to redeem your $20 credit for YouTube TV.Once redeemed, this will be applied to your next bill

So only a $20 credit if you continue to subscribe in the future. Nothing for this month without ESPN. Lame.

The reporting I’ve seen in The Athletic says Disney has offered YouTube the same pricing they recently signed with Spectrum, Cox and Comcast, but YouTube wants a lower price even though they have fewer subscribers. If that is true, it would seem to me that YouTube TV is the intransigent party in this negotiation.

The Athletic surveyed more than 8,000 fans for their sentiments and attitudes about the standoff. With four out of five respondents identifying as YouTube subscribers, it was not unusual that the majority of the “blame” went to ESPN and Disney. Of note, 60 percent of survey respondents who identified as YouTube TV subscribers said they were considering switching services.

That bolded sentence should have YouTube TV very concerned.

Given that live sports is the only thing I watch on old school TV and Sling day passes are $5 and weekend passes are $12, I can't see myself ever being a paying subscriber to any "cable" type service again. I use Netflix and Prime and whatnot mostly to watch documentaries, but I generally have no use for "live" TV. I could watch sling almost every day on a day pass for the same price as the services, but obviously that will never be necessary.

Disney purchased FUBO.TV, this looks allot like they want to push subscribers to their platforms.

Last Friday I looked into this and sling didn't have the UNC / KU game.

Huh? Wasn't the game on ESPN? I was there so I don't know but I was able to watch Central Arkansas game on Sling so I can't imagine they didn't have the Kansas game. Also watched Syracuse football game on Sling day pass.

Yes.

Sling has a page under explore sports where they list the games available by day. I filtered for UNC and no game was available.

Checking now, they have the next two games listed.

Disney is just trying to get rid of YTTV as their main competition to Hulu+ Live TV. YTTV doesn't want to accept the price because then they would probably have to raise their subscription price, which might drive more people to Hulu. It all depends on if Disney thinks they can make more money driving people to Hulu or if they can make more with Hulu and what YTTV pays them for their networks to be carried on YTTV. Disney is just trying to control the streaming game. They want their cake and eat it, too.

Sling has different channel packages. Maybe you subscribed to a different one? I subscribed to a weeklong package and my wife was able to watch the UNC-Kansas game on it. 🤷‍♂️

I didn't subscribe.

I was checking because I was going to pay for their day pass. There's always the possibility that I misread our did something wrong, but when I checked and filtered for UNC it showed no game available that day.

Thankfully I was able to watch on another service.

Ultimately though, I'm not playing this stupid game all season. It's ridiculous that they can't figure this out.

Ok..my 5 day fubo trial expire. What are my options al carte for ESPN tonight and our game Tuesday?
Check out Sling TV. You can buy something called the “Orange + Sports Extra” package, and you can do it for what’s called a “day pass” for basically six dollars for 24 hours. That’s what I’ve been doing for the last two weekends of college football. It has worked spectacularly so far.

Sling day pass is probably the best option at $5. You might have to pay an extra buck tomorrow night if it's on a smaller sports network.
There might be some free trials available out there but to me the $5 is worth not having to think about canceling and auto renewals, etc.
