The idea is keeping pressure off our domestic markets to avoid even greater costs without having to invoke a prohibition on shipping domestic oil outside the United States (which would freak the markets).
Ya think we'd see some of those big bets on crude futures about 5 minutes before an announcement of said prohibition was made by Trump?

Local station that was bouncing back 'n forth between $4.33 and $4.39 the past 3 weeks has jumped up .26 cents to $4.59 this morning. Hello Memorial Day travelers . .
Update :
That same gas station that increased it's prices for regular by .26 cents on Friday, lowered them by .26 cents this morning.

Passenger numbers thru Charlotte are down 8% from last year.

More people are driving and the AAA travel distance is some minor BS like 50 miles.

Just saw $4.03 at the Circle K at Carrboro Plaza? Across the street it’s $4.19? WTF is all I can say?!?

I doubt US gas prices spike that much but it will certainly pressure prices upward if this drags out in the current limbo all summer.

I'm a parts & service director for three dealerships. Two months ago I could buy a drum of 0w20 for $589. Yesterday that same drum cost me $856.

Let people get raped by gas prices all summer, leading up to midterms... while Trump sits back sticking taxpayers with the bill for his billion-dollar ballroom, telling people that they should be happy gas prices are not even higher.
