Wonder if Poul Anderson was on to something in War of the Wingmen. In the subplot for the main figures, a species was divided over mating habits to the point of war. A migratory segment had an annual mating season congruent with childbearing. The trade of was that they were a transient society who couldn't build much of a civilization.
A second segment and adapted a maritime life. They lived on huge fishing vessels and had a constant supply of food without the disruption of migration and were becoming more technologically advanced. Even worse, they screwed all the time and their children were born indiscriminately. It was a moral outrage to the point of open warfare. In the preparation for war, the effort involved aroused untimely and illicit feelings in the migratory species leading to the discovery that the hard effort and stress brought on the mating urge. The fisher folk did it every day instead of seasonally.
Well, probably not but who knows?

Most of the republicans in our government who act dumb or say dumb things are calculatingly dumb. They know the shit they say is dumb, but it’s part of the show they’re putting on. I am pretty sure Tuberville, on the other hand, is just plain dumb. He doesn’t really know how dumb he sounds because he really is that dumb.

It really is fascinating seeing the mythical Trump that his cult supporters have created in their minds. Judging from the artwork about him he is muscular and macho, a warrior under the Lord's protection who is fighting pure evil on their behalf. And of course this mythical Trump has absolutely nothing to do with the real world, flesh-and-blood Trump that everyone outside the cult knows exists.

His campaign has moved fully into Republic of Gilead territory. One religion that is literally forced onto everyone whether they like it or not.
