That was a beatdown. Congrats to ABC for not normalizing Trump. I was pretty impressed with the moderators.

Of course, debates no longer operate under a traditional understanding. Trump did nothing that will turn off his base (and probably can't do so at this point), so that limits his downside. But Trump did absolutely nothing to appeal to anyone outside of his base and did a lot to turn them off. He came across as an whining, petulant, angry man who has nothing very little to offer in terms of new ideas. Kamala, while I'm not sure she nailed it, certainly came across as the far better candidate unless you want someone who is still angry about past elections and sees America as a hellhole.

That's it. Trump's debate doesn't bring anyone new into the fold. She just got Taylor Swift's endorsement.

I do think Trump talking about people eating cats and dogs had to sway some people still on the fence....I simply don't see how you can listen to that and not immediately think he's mentally unfit for office.
 
The timing of the Swift endorsement is brilliant (and I doubt it would have come tonight if the debate went poorly for Kamala).

Who cares what Swift thinks? Young people. Who didn't watch the debate? Young people. Who might now tune into politics for the rare check-in and they will be seeing headlines about Trump the doddering old fool angry grandpa yelling at clouds.

This campaign is running at 100% peak. The people bad-mouthing them are way off base. First that DNC, now this.
