“… When the storm hit, Robinson started posing in front of broken roads with highway patrolmen, showing up and claiming credit for a supply drive run by a local county sheriff’s office, and, on his X account, spreading misinformation about Cooper, “hob-nobing” (sic) in New York instead of preparing for the storm.

Like everything else about Robinson’s candidacy, the story cracks under scrutiny. A report from North Carolina journalists found that, as the storm approached the southeastern United States last week, Robinson, who is also the state’s lieutenant governor, was the only member of North Carolina’s Council of State that didn’t respond to Cooper’s call for emergency powers, which allowed the governor to mobilize rescue efforts.

… Rep. Virginia Foxx, a western North Carolina MAGA Republican, was also photographed helping a supply drive in the region this week, but Foxx was one of 11 Republicans who voted against providing federal aid to victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Then there’s Sen. Ted Budd, who’s demanding more federal aid but has voted against FEMA aid and hurricane relief for other people on multiple occasions. So has Congressman Dan Bishop, who promised Monday to “make sure the federal government is supporting our state.”

That they’re hypocrites doesn’t mean North Carolina doesn’t need the help, but it’s meaningful. They have no mercy for others but demand it for themselves.

… In times of crisis, some politicians are there to help and some are there to stand and talk. We’ve seen enough of Donald Trump and his MAGA allies to know which kind they are. “

They've always told lies, but it's just bold and baldfaced lies now. They don't care that CNN or some other media source might fact-check them and find that their claims are all a bunch of bullshit. They know that their base will eat this crap up and believe it, because it's what they want to believe. It seems clear that they are hoping to drive up turnout in NC among their base in rural and small-town areas as much as possible (and probably in GA and FL too). And as I posted earlier it's simply disgusting - there are lots of good people with FEMA, the National Guard, and NC state agencies who are working their butts off to help the people of western NC - and yet from Trump on down to your local MAGAt conspiracy theorists (aka a bunch of Dale Gribbles) they are being slandered as cold and heartless, thieves who are literally stealing needed supplies from Real Americans suffering in rural areas, greedy Deep State government elitists who are going to buy up Chimney Rock and all of the other devastated land in western NC and build lithium mines to promote Kamala's efforts to get everyone to switch to electric cars and pickups (I saw that one posted several times on Facebook just yesterday). Shit like this has got to stop, one way or another. It's poisoning people's minds.
They keep telling the lies because they know they have to keep their base fired up and excited to vote, because they know there is no way they have a chance to win anything without the crazies from the far right.

I thought all of these folks were anti-socialist, anti-welfare handout, pull yourself up by your bootstraps types? So why are they now complaining about not getting enough money? As usual with Trumpers, they don't care about the suffering of others until it finally happens to them - then they want that government relief as fast as they can get it, and as much as possible.
The very definition of hypocrisy.
