This is exactly what I was afraid of when I mentioned the day after Helene hit that Trump and his minions would quickly begin attacking the "Harris/Biden" administration for not doing more to help. And it's even worse than I could have imagined, because so many people seem to be believing the barefaced lies being told by Trump, Vance, Musk, and others right down to ordinary MAGAts on the net and social media. I've seen the "Federal Government is buying up devastated land to build lithium mines for electric cars" bullshit several times on facebook in just the last couple of days. And anytime someone posts something that disagrees with these lies or tries to point out the truth, they are immediately ganged up on and attacked by Trumpers and (I suspect) troll bots. It's disgusting to watch. And my fear is that this is going to be more effective than many people think. While there are some Republicans who are trying to promote the truth, it seems as if this concerted effort to present what's happening in western NC as "Kamala's Katrina" has taken hold in some quarters, and the more they repeat it the more it sinks in to social media. Just pure evil, and it seems as if the truth being posted by people just never seems to catch up to the lies.
