My reading of this thread, combined with abnormally limited exposure to normal news the last 9 days, led me to wrongly assume the $750 relief thing was conjured from thin air. As in, a Trump lie to damn with small numbers.

I was surprised just now when my wife told me it's a real thing and showed me the website.

So to anyone in WNC who's as far behind the curve as me: I doubt that there's anyone on this board who personally needs the $750, but all of us have neighbors who need it, so don't leave it on the table.

It is true that among other things, you can get a fairly rapid $750 payment from FEMA. It is not remotely true that such a payment is supposed to be comprehensive relief or the only possible relief from FEMA, which is the blatant lie that people have been spreading.

Yes. And I would add that a similar/related goal is to reduce trust in American government and institutions.
 
This morning, I watched Maria Bartiromo interview Melania, and Bartiromo just blatantly lied, asking Melania "what can we do now that FEMA is out of money?". The context, of course, was relief for hurricane Helene. She further went on to accuse Mayorkas of spending it all on getting illegal immigrants into the country.

Bartiromo is as much a Trump slurper as any other garden variety Fox host, but the frequency with which they seem to get away with making shit up is really something to behold.

That is the worse part of his ( orangeturd ) show ................by far, Of course a lot of foks felt that way for a long time-but they tended to "stay in their lane ". Now there is whole new generation of rapid govt haters. It is the young MAGAs that will screw us for decades-it's popular to spew that shit. A "tie" for the worse part is rabid "isms". Again-they use to stay in their lane and tell racist, homophomic jokes when they hung out together

Maria Bartiromo isn’t a garden variety Fox News Trumplican slurper……she’s an elite slurper.

Wasn’t she called a “money honey” at CNBC? And, “rally bimbo” or something like that? And, she ENTHUSIASTICALLY smiled when the male hosts referred to her as such.

It’s definitely disheartening to see so many caught up in his cult, but when you realize that many of the rank and file MAGA are also Evangelical Christians, it starts to make sense.

The rest are complicit because they see Trump as the vessel to erode the federal government and they’ll use him to any end if it achieves that goal.

I’m far more concerned with group #2. Group #1 doesn’t hold much power, but G2 make up the think-tank behind Project 2025 and they have an immense amount of power and sway.

I agree with you. I tell my wife all the time that Trump is a moron but Shady Vance is pure evil. He has a clear agenda and he's able to hide his crazy in front of a camera.
