I keep wondering if inconsistency will just be the new norm (except for dook at the moment). In the current environment, virtually every program is completely rebuilding the roster every year. Some years it will work. Others not so much

this is where I am at. I am not sold that any coach out there is immune from it.

We should be. But I don't see the majority of names being listed as in that category. If we can get one, take it. But taking a chance on somebody who maybe, kinda sorta is an elite prospect is crazy to me.
Blueblood hires from another program since 1980s (x = bad hire):

UNC - Doherty (x), and Roy
Connecticut - Calhoun, Hurley
Duke - K
Indiana - Crean (x), Archie Miller (x), Mike Woodson (x), DeVries (?)
Kansas - Larry Brown, Roy, Self
Kentucky - Eddie Sutton, Rick Pitino, Tubby Smith, Billy Gillespie (x), John Calipari, Mark Pope (x)
UCLA - Hazzard (x), Harrick, Howland, Alford (x), Cronin (x)

Seems like most of these hires are pretty good, with a few bad apples in there.

I think we are reaching a stage where evaluating talent is more important than in game coaching ability. If your entire team is going to turn over every year, you are going to win or lose based on the ability to construct a new team ever year.

There are multiple versions of the story out there. I've heard this version and Calheel's version, but, of course, there's no official release of info to check it against.
There is her story in the N&O, which I believe includes all of those details.

Edit: I just re-read the N&O Story and it appears High did delete it. I could have sworn there was evidence of him not doing so, but maybe that was just an IC rumor

We seem to be heading more down the Indiana, Kentucky, ucla kinda path than than the UConn, dook, Kansas.

I believe in redemption... but I also believe that kids are growing up in a VERY different world than we did... one where they were exposed to porn that normalized certain things from a VERY young age, making it very hard to understand what's normal/ ok and what's not.

He made a very bad decision, but I suspect it's one a MUCH larger percentage of college athletes on elite teams make than we want to think about.

HD is a pretty strict, conservative guy. I can't imagine him giving a second chance unless High was truly repentant for his mistake. I trust his decision here. I understand why others wouldn't. But I think using it as pot shot at his morality is poorly done.
i've said it before, but even if High deserved a second chance (i'm ambivalent on this point tbh), it certainly should not have been at the expense of the young woman involved by keeping him on campus - HD should have facilitated a transfer for High and done what he could to clear his name for the program that was getting him. That the second chance instead looks like keeping him on the campus, after the woman's story expressly talked about the trauma it caused for her to see him and his image being celebrated around campus, is a stain on his character, and there's no way around that IMO. Combine that with the fact that he appears to have kicked the women's team out of the Late Night tradition before it was replaced with the NIL Blue-White scrimmage and I'm not really left with a great sense about Hubert's character via how he thinks about women -- and it's most of the reason why I'm not moved by arguments that claim that those who think he needs to be replaced aren't worried about character or likeability.

Duke, Houston, UConn, Purdue, Arizona, Alabama. These schools are getting a top 4-5 seed pretty much every year. No excuse for us not to be in that group.

I think that is unfair. All agreed at the time that he would serve a one semester suspension from school and a one year probation from basketball. She knew that he would be allowed to rejoin the team and she agreed to that resolution. And then when he in fact rejoined the team, she got upset.

He was permitted to use team facilities during the probation but not practice with the team. She thinks High and the school violated that restriction by letting him do activities that looked a lot like practice.

Apparently, there is a civil suit over that now. In my opinion, there is a bit of buyer's remorse here. She thought he would likely transfer when she agreed to the punishment. She was surprised that Hubert let him back on the team.

As close to a can't miss pick as humanly possible. I just sat down at the bar and got a beer, so I won't be able to give you anything less annoyingly vague right now. But I don't put TJ (can't spell his last name) on that list.
I'm a patient man, I'd appreciate if you put it out there in the next couple of days or so. :)

Kansas killed it with its hires. Three hall-of-famers.
