I have come to hate this word "kinetic" through no fault of its own. So sick of hearing about kinetic attacks. Of course they are kinetic attacks. What are we going to do, bomb them with potential energy?

It's almost as bad as "lethality" -- another word that gets thrown around so often by the administration that people maybe don't realize they are bragging about killing.
I definitely hated it because Pete Hegseth kept using it because he clearly thought it made him sound like a bad ass or whatever.

Technically, it is potential energy until detonation... But agreed, it sounds dumb. Hegseth could cite Newton's Laws of Motion if his life depended on it or a kinetic variable from a kinematic.

We're advocating single island hopping in the Indian Ocean? There's 98 years left in the US/UK base lease. Iran is hardly playing the long con to acquire dominancy in the middle of nowhere.

Trump faked his way out of serving our country. He should really abstain from military strategy.
The Times of London reports the actual basis of this chiding is the UK has not yet approved using this base to attack Iran due to concerns such an attack will violate international law … so Trump is portraying Starmer as weak for agreeing to this deal (that Trump 1.0 supported) to pile on that failing to support an Iran attack would be even weaker.

Being viewed as weak and ineffectual is Starmer’s soft spot with the UK public more generally right now — he is hanging on to his job by a thread.
