Is it time to get a firearm?

is it time for those of use who do not have firearms and are generally opposed to having them in our houses to consider about getting one?

I think it is. The talk about going door to door and rounding up Democrats and the talk of civil war from the side that had all of the political power is concerning and must be taken seriously. The right seems primed to be whipped up in a furry.

I am not talking about fighting the government or stupid nonsense like that. That is just silly and suicidal. I am more worried about bands of MAGA taking things in their own hand - possibly after being given permission or a promise of pardons from the president all because of some manufactured threat. (If you don’t think they can find reason to justify almost anything then you haven’t been paying attention. There is no objective reality anymore.)

If I do get a gun, it will remained locked up in my attic. I will get as good of a lock as possible.

Finally for those of you who know about guns, what would you suggest?

I guess if I got one it would locked up in my attic And that would do me zero good if someone was breaking into my house?

I think your scenario is exponentially less likely to happen than the reason most people get guns which is a fear of someone breaking onto their house while they are home... which is very unlikely.

It is not for a normal break ins. I live in a somewhat progressive community in Chatham County. I worry if crap hit the fan my community would be targeted. If that is the case I would likely have some time unless I happened to be the first one targeted.

Having easily accessible firearms put people at more danger not less. That would be even more true in my case. Plus I don't want to ever make a mistake or misinterpret a situation. The only way I would want to ever consider having the weapon is a scenario where it is clear to all that bad things are going down.

Finally, since people know I have a special needs child, he is nothing like the kid from Sandy Hook. That kid knew what guns were and what they can do. My son does not. He isn't capable of understanding that. There is absolutely no chance that he would intentionally break into a safe.

Great. The firearm stays locked in the attic.

And if I happened to be victim of a random break-in then I'm no worse off.

you are insane to not carry a firearm on you at all time esp if you have a family. hate that it is like that in this country, but it is what it is and its only going to get a lot worse.
I have a 15 year old child with level 3 autism who doesn't have the capacity to understand what a firearm is. Having a firearm on me at all times would be incredibly dangerous and borderline criminal.

Has there been any violence that can be linked to his murder? Where is this civil war talk? I am on Facebook with almost 3000 friends in gun-loving MAGA country. I have not seen anything I considered credible and threatening.

thats contradictory. if he cant understand why would u believe it to be dangerous and criminal? again, theres no way i would ever not have a firearm on me if i had a family given there is prob 3 times as many guns in this country than people and with the political divide and hatred thats only going to get worse. hey but yall do you...call me paranoid and crazy or whatever makes you sleep better. i give no shits what sheep think.

You are paranoid and crazy. I will report back about my sleep. I'm not holding out much hope but I'm willing to try just about anything.

Because a child (or adult that he will soon be) who doesn't understand what a gun is will put his hand on it. That is incredibly dangerous.

My son was on the porch last night and removed a screen from the window and bent it all up. (He brakes things daily.) I can get mad, yell and him, spank him, whatever, and he will never understand any of it. How in the world would I teach him to keep his hands off of this object that is on my hip?

Are you really that dumb?

12 gauge pump shotgun. Preferably one for home defense as it will be much shorter than some sort of bird gun. Load it with buckshot. Not a much more terrifying sound than a shell being racked into a pump shotgun.
That's what I have for home defense. I hope I never have to use it, but I will if I need to.

By the time I was in my mid teens I understood I would never again
1. Drive a motorcycle
2. Mess around with firearms
3. Get high on anything other than Alcohol or unadulterated pot
