“With Harris and Walz in, some Democrats still weigh skipping the polls.
Activists urged voters to take a stand against the Biden administration’s handling of the Israel-Gaza war. These tensions linger over the Harris ticket.”

Well… I say let them have their pity party. See if their tantrums turn things their way. Perhaps “their way” produces a Trump Victory? See how they like that. Be careful what you wish for youngsters. You just might get it. And if the foo shits, you’d best be prepared to wear it.

Wolf Blitzer is broadcasting from Israel starting tonight — maybe the news version of insider trading getting a tip about something imminent?

You also need to see things from their perspective. Many have family and friends suffering from a genocide, and they feel like this administration has not done the most they can to stop it. Also, when there were people chanting to Kamala to help end the genocide, her response was condescending. These people know Trump is much worse, but they want their voices heard. They feel like Kamala needs to earn their vote and should listen to what they're saying. To her credit, she met with a couple of the leaders of the Uncommitted movement before that rally, but instead of saying that when the people chanted in her rally, instead, she shunned them and had them kicked out (and this was in Detroit where there are many anti-genocide people). That move may cost her Michigan, but she still has time for damage control.

To be fair, when they interrupted her rally, she first acknowledged that everyone deserves to be heard but at that moment she had the podium and was speaking. She gave them a moment first, but when they disregarded her polite request to let her proceed and interrupted again, THEN she shut them down.

Yeah, but she could have informed them that she met with the Uncommitted leaders and is looking into their requests. They weren't heckling her, but were chanting for a genocide to stop. If she had done that, it would have gone a long way in showing that she is willing to listen.

Yup. How shortsighted it is to try and sabotage someone who is moderately pro-Israel in order to get someone who is much more pro-Israel into office in their place. If the Democrats lose because of Michigan, the pro-Gaza movement is forever doomed.

If VP Harris wishes to distancer herself slightly from the Biden Admin on this issue, she can say 1) Israel was brutally attached and the targets were civilians. 2) Israel, like any country would, responded forcefully to this outragous Hamas action, 3) We need to get rid of Hamas and end the war, 4) Once the war is over, if I am elected I will have the goal of makinbg the two-state solution happen (inclding a demilitarized Independent Palestinian state in WB and Gaza with a multi-national peacekeeping force by the 60th asnniversary of the Six Day wara in June 1967. The US and out allies in the region will press all parties to get the deal done.

How is that any different than Biden other than the deadline for a 2-state solution? Where are the comments that need to be said that Israel needs to end the war now because they are committing a genocide against civilians? Or that the US needs to distance itself from an Israeli administration that says that raping and torturing Palestinian prisoners is allowed and not punishable. Israel is brutally attacking civilians and that needs to end immediately.

The US position is (correctly, IMO) that Israel is not committing a genocide in Gaza.

The U.S. position, and yours, is deliberately ignorant of facts on the ground.
It is not, unless your position is that the United States committed genocide in Iraq and Afghanistan. Israel has lower civilian to combatant fatality rates in Gaza than we had in those wars.

Are you of the opinion that the only thing that determines whether a genocide has taken place is the civilian to combatant fatality rate?
Nope, but that is an important factor that bears consideration. I'm of the opinion that it is nearly impossible to wage war when your enemy cares less about its own civilians than you do, to the point of bragging about how it tries to "martyr" as many civilians on its side as possible.

And if she wins the election despite them sitting it out / voting for Trump she knows that she doesn’t have to meet their demands going forward. That’s the danger of playing chicken.
No one is voting for Trump. However, the way Kamala comes off to them is that she is too arrogant or they are not important enough for her to earn their vote. She just expects them to vote for her because Trump is worse. Imagine people you care for are being mass murdered and starved and someone tells you to wait and see. The problem is that every day we waste waiting is another day that more innocent people die.
No one is playing chicken. Again, it's people that want their voices heard and want the genocide to stop. The real reason Kamala isn't saying much is because she, like most candidates, are terrified of AIPAC.

Kamala's husband is Jewish. I don't think she's terrified of AIPAC. She probably simply recognizes that Israel has the right to defend itself without going too far in doing so.
