I've accidentally had nycfan on Super-Ignore for about two weeks.

No idea how it happened, must have mis-clicked something when trying to respond to one of her posts.

Let me tell you guys, I've got a lot of politics to catch up on. Other than my podcast of Pod Save America and various You Tube videos of Trump's buffoonery, I'm way behind. This morning, I was literally going to start a thread asking if the lack of political discourse on this board recently was a sign of everyone's trepidation about the election. I was also going to ask if everyone's Harris/Walz thread was buggy, or had some troll I have on ignore hijacked the thread so no new messages appear other than their own. And, to top it off, I couldn't find the 2024 Presidential Election Thread or the Election Polls thread no matter how far back I looked (have to admit, it was nice not paying attention to polls everyday). Turns out, I just fat-fingered a thumbs up to one of her posts, and the world ejected me from politics for two weeks.

Makes you appreciate the trouble nycfan goes through to keep us all informed.

I've got a lot of reading to do...

I literally did think the board was either broken, or everyone had lost interest.

A direct quote from me: "How the fuck did the Polls thread slide off the first page?" Well, it turns out Super Ignore erases all the threads started by that person from your view.

Agreed. The ultimate snowflake move.
So do I. There's can be good found in anything, no matter how distasteful it seems, like the posts of your claque.

I'm always reminded of this story when I read them looking for a reason to continue doing so..

Grandpa Braswell used to tell the story of when he was with the Confederate Army over in South Carolina in the last few months of the Civil War. He was only 18. He and his fellow soldiers were forced to dig out undigested grains of corn from the horse manure, just to get something to eat. Starving, freezing and homesick, my grandfather took a man’s horse and rode home to Emanuel County as fast as he could.

Ignore function is for the mentally weak
I think that is sometimes true. There are some people who are more comfortable existing in their confirmation bias bubble, but I also think there are valid reasons to ignore certain posters. I also think, given how close we are to the election, that there is unusually high anxiety and some posters don't want the additional stress of opposing views or information that increases the anxiety.

I’d like to know how folks predominantly ignored by the majority feel as they type into the void with very little acknowledgement. Like shouting in the dark but imagining you’re still being heard and validated.

I read them but I have notoriously low standards and am normally RUI.
