I watched the Netflix documentary on him last night, and really did not know he continues to claim he was really attacked. I did not pay close attention when it happened but remember his claim fell apart pretty quickly. The smoking gun for his defense was a video of the two assailants in which one did not have a mask on and there was dispute on whether that person was white or POC. Clearly the history of the Chicago PD fed skepticism but is there really doubt that he did this? Looks like his career is getting back on track.

Americans are generally pretty forgiving. If you screw up, and admit you screwed up, we'll welcome you back into the family.

Until he admits he lied, he should be blacklisted, IMO.

I didn't care much about it when it happened and don't now but I'd have liked to have seen the same scrutiny turned on the Big Balls assault case that got DC invaded. I thought both cases involved a lot of drama and overreaction.

Did anyone see the doc? Or have seen the video of the two guys? The unmasked one damn sure did not look white to me. I would have thought that they could have come close on the height and weight of the two guys to see if it matched the two men who said jussie paid them to do it? But if they did it was not mentioned.

The obvious difference is that one assault, Big Balls, actually happened while the other, Jussie, was staged.

Well it attracted a lot of attention early because it was Maga vs. a gay POC. I guess it was sustained because it was revealed as a hoax and it did drag in the courts. Frankly I was surprised Smollett agreed to the documentary because it brings all of that stuff back into our living rooms. Seems like another bad miscalculation.

It’s long struck me as curious that this story has such legs. A C-list actor with mental health issues does a really stupid thing and it becomes a cultural phenomenon. Huh?
BPBB always draws a reliable audience.

Hard for me to imagine caring enough about this (at any point) to watch that documentary. The guy’s an idiot. The end.

I would guess the point of it is red meat for people who like being outraged.
Well since my braves are hopelessly out of it I have a lot of free time. It was just 90 mins and when I started I doubted I would finish. I stuck with it because I was quickly surprised he still claimed innocence when I genuinely did not know that. I wanted to see if there was any thing that was convincing and exculpatory. For me, there was not.

Lols. Do you not believe the big balls assault happened, not believe it was 10 people attempting to carjack him or what?
