I started taking amlodopine about 3 years ago for my blood pressure. About a year ago, I upped my dose. Several months ago, I noticed substantial swelling in my ankles and feet. I learned that it is a common side effect of amlodipine due to water retention and gravity. My doctor also believed that was the case and switched my meds a couple months ago. I haven’t had ankle/feet swelling since.
