Long overdue for a Tar Heel legend. Met him once coming home from the ACC tournament in Brooklyn. We were on the same flight and a friend introduced me. Super nice guy.

Apparently the voters thought the likes of Todd Lichti, Marvin Webster, John Stockton (college John Stockton), and Doug Collins were more deserving in previous years

College Basketball Hall of Fame didn’t exist until 2006.

Yeah, but nearly 2 decades have passed since 2006, and a whole slew of players got inducted right away. I can understand Lennie not getting in within the first few years of the Hall's existence, but his accomplishments are easily enough to have warranted enshrinement several years ago.

Looking through the 2006 inductees, it appears the CBHOF tried to make sure the players from WAY back were included and the “best of the best” (Kareem, Oscar, etc.) in that original class.

How Charles Barkley or Shaq were in the original class or included ever is puzzling. Ditto for Kevin McHale or Robert Parrish. That Todd Lichti ever made it is wrong.

The CBHOF has been trying to make up for lost time. Something tells me players from Rosenbluth’s era who played for segregated schools will be slower to make it.

Yeah, the initial 2006 inductee class was huge, and it rightfully had both the most notable pioneers and the very best players. But as you noted, it had some strange selections that first year:

Charles Barkley, but no Wayman Tisdale?
Robert Parish, but no Ralph Sampson?
Dominique Wilkins, but no Cazzie Russell?
Joe Dumars, but no Austin Carr?
Kevin McHale, but no Danny Manning (As much as it pains me, even Christian Laettner has a better case for the inaugural class than McHale)

And honestly, I don't think Bob McAdoo deserved to be in the inaugural class, either. Not after only one season of Division I ball. I know he won a national title in Junior College, but that shouldn't carry that much weight. Phil Ford (or Lennie) would've been a better choice.

Inaugural class was probably a bit too soon for Worthy, as well, even though he certainly belongs.

And how the hell is David Robinson STILL not in this HOF at all? Adrian Dantley and Steve Alford should probably be in there already too.
