Wrong way to go, imo as a general approach. If it's as easy to change ,do. Otherwise, do what you always have done except complain about slights and the condition of the country. Participating in furthering the division is wrong. Reminding them that we are their neighbors and their customers and that they screwed us and themselves seems better.
Certainly at first. If things go as I fear, it might taste more like ashes, though. I know they can't bother me and that's enough to bother them.

I'm sure the My Pillow guy will be crushed to lose the business.
I personally decided to stop buying Nike and Adidas gear about five years ago due to the corrupting effect their shoe bidness payoffs to players was having on NCAA basketball. Now that NIL makes all that seem like child's play I guess I can buy what I want.
Making the call based on D vs R seems simplistic. Usually the contributions come from management/major stockholders rather than the company itself. I'd rather judge companies on how they conduct their business rather than political contributions. There's no shortage of fashion apparel Dems who make their money on the backs of Third World child slave labor, for example.
Plus, you may be penalizing a company your IRA owns stock in, given the nature of mutual fund and ETF retirement investments.
Ultimately it's just a feel good exercise, but if it makes you think you're making a difference, go ahead...

Being an openly agnostic liberal carpenter gets you some suspicion in the South. I used unfriendly because hostile would have been much too strong a word. Mostly some comments and and coldness but, of course, my wit and charm won them over. Competency was an assist.
