Every time I decide to do a quick check and see what Fox News is covering, I somehow still manage to come away stunned.

So last night I decided to see if they were covering Hurricane Helene hitting Florida and apparently it was at a time when Hannity was on. Well, it was businesses as usual from Hannity, with a "the Biden admin is destroying the country" rant, but this rant was something else and I could only listen for a minute before having to change the channel.

Anyway, Hannity said that prescription drug prices were cratering and that it had made opioids and other dangerous drugs so cheap, that overdoses and deaths were skyrocketing and then Biden admin was doing nothing about it. So I guess the Biden admin getting prescription drug prices lower is now another Biden created national emergency. I expect a full investigation from the house soon <sarcasm> <kinda>

Edited to add that Fox had a small storm tracker window on one side of the screen. Guess they gotta feed the monster and if you really want some updated Hurricane Helene information, you can check CNN between commercials.

Lol it's the "Alpha Male" weirdo. I'm still not 100% sure if he's serious or if it's just his shtick. I think the former.
I think it's all been a grift the entire time.

The long-running platitude in professional wrestling is that the best performers are those that take their natural personality and "turn it up to ten".

Even when he was still in Australia, it was clear that he wanted attention and planned to become famous/wealthy using politics. He eventually figured out in the early 2010s that the grifting was better in the US and moved his shtick over here. And then he really took off when he found a kindred spirit in Trump and was able to plug into the MAGA movement for suckers.

My hunch is that "Nick Adams (Alpha Male)" is who he always wanted to be, but that he's turned it up to 10 and made it a character he plays. And because it's more a persona than his actual personality, it comes across as very fake to anyone who looks at him for more than a brief glance. So I'd say the base of his public face is real, but that he's turned it into a false persona for money-making purposes.

Nick Adams is an irony poisoning case study.

The trick we have to become aware of and need to educate each other about is that you take any old garden variety sociopathic notion (racism, toxic masculinity, Natzism, etc.) and you crank the knob up on the intensity until it becomes cartoonish.

This does a couple of very valuable things. First and foremost it provides a layer of plausible deniability ("it's just a character he's playing", "he doesn't really believe what he's saying", "you're so lame, you're not in on the joke") and secondly it shifts the Overton window exponentially further to the right.

We have to be able to recognize and properly identify the tactics if we are going to be able to come up with tactics to combat them.

"... But now it’s Trump who backed out of a high profile “60 Minutes” interview scheduled for tonight at 8 p.m. ET.

Kamala Harris — who has been accused of not being comfortable in “unscripted” interviews — has committed to the interview, along with her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz.

Yet Trump has barely been criticized for leaving CBS News in the lurch. Instead he’ll do a friendly interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News at 7 p.m. ET.

Perhaps we’ll learn more tonight about how and why Trump bailed on “60 Minutes.” ..."

That Playbook is absolute garbage. And to the point in the first tweet, Trump said in his rally yesterday he would do the 60 Minutes interview only if Lesley Stahl apologizes to him for . . . something? The double standard is fully baked in now but it’s still infuriating.

Stephanie Ruhle had a segment last night about how after hearing so much about how Harris won't answer questions, she went on 60 Minutes, Howard Stern, the Call Me Daddy podcast, and Ruhle's show itself all in a matter of a few days time.

Now people were complaining that Harris only does "easy interviews."

Meanwhile Trump afraid to go on 60 Minutes...

There’s no bottom. When the seeming bottom is reached, to get clicks politico or NYT will write an op-ed (or anonymously publish Tom Cotton’s) criticizing Harris for “ducking” Alex Jones and Tucker Carlson.

Hell, there are still a lot of posters here who are saying Kamala doesn’t “think well on her feet.” There’s literally nothing she could do to turn the 45% of the country that’s already been indoctrinated to think she’s not smart.

Politico is now a right-wing website and is not much better than Fox News, imo. It was bought a few years ago by a right-wing German media mogul and has moved steadily to the right ever since. In 2020 this German guy asked his senior editors to attend a prayer session where they would all pray for Trump's reelection victory. Again, the amount of so-called "liberal mainstream media" grows smaller every election cycle, while the amount of right-wing media (or head-in-the-sand hopeless bosiders like The NY Times) just keeps growing.

Yeah, it's no surprise that Hannity os a college dropout.

It's a shame what's happened to Politico and UK Telegraph (Murdoch acquisition).
