Can someone explain bosiding to me? Some of us are not controlled party zombies and understand there are a lot of gray area issues involved in partisan politics. Why is that a bad thing?
It’s unlikely. Given your self-description and the inherent condescension therein, it is doubtful any of the “party-controlled zombies” here could offer any explanation that would pierce your superiority complex created by your belief you are above it all.

Not exactly. The Germans truly were in bad shape. We're close to being in the best shape we've ever been in. That makes us a lot more stupid than them. But you're generally on point.
The macroeconomy is doing fairly well, but a lot of rural communities aren't doing very well. A lot of working class folks aren't doing very well. And a lot of working class folks and folks in rural communities have essentially hit the same place that Germans in the 1930s hit.

Add in the folks who feel that the US is completely losing its way on social issues and you can start to see why so many Americans are turning to an authoritarian, fascist strongman.

1920s/1930s Germany as an absolute mess economically. I know there are plenty of struggling rural communities in the country but none of them are in “the same place” as Great Depression-era Germany. People aren’t, like, waiting in bread lines for a single loaf of bread to feed a family.

You'd be amazed how many folks in rural areas are using community food pantries or other similar services on a regular basis.

I wasn't clear enough in my reply, though, so let me be more clear. I'm not saying that our rural communities are as bad as 1930s Germany. I'm saying that many of these communities are now on a 40-plus-year decline of manufacturing jobs and that many of the folks in these communities feel very, very hopeless about the future. And it's the loss of hope that create the conditions that push folks to turn to authoritarianism as a solution.

I've seen facebook posts from relatives and people I know in the rural county I grew up in who just love Trump's idea of raising tariffs on imports. They don't seem to understand tariffs any better than Trump does, and don't have a clue as to what would happen to the price of anything imported, but they see it as somehow a sweet revenge on China and Vietnam and all these other places that have "stolen their jobs."

Correct i would never expect anything else from a mindless zombie

Great Know Your Enemy episode w/ Rick Perlstein.

Rick has been writing a weekly column in The American Prospect called “The Infernal Triangle.” The three corners of this triangle are:

1. An increasingly authoritarian Republican Party

2. A dysfunctional legacy media intent on both sides “journalism”

3. A feckless Democratic Party

The double standard with how Trump and Harris are covered and/or handled in general - which overwhelmingly favors Trump despite the constant cries about the librul media - is fucking insane. Charlemagne was correct to call it out, and as I'm sure you all know, it's far from just Anderson Cooper/CNN.

He should have brought up the difference in the age question after Biden dropped out, there's nothing clearer than that. Age was a daily topic for Biden, they don't give trumps age anywhere near the coverage.

And it doesn't stop there. They seem to be so concerned about appearing impartial.

Not to wear it out, but where are the non-stop criticisms about Trump's age and lack of mental acuity after we were constantly waterboarded about it with Biden for the last 2+ years? Crickets. The American Media in particular has spectacularly failed this country at one of the times when it matters the most.

Conservatives, stop the whining about the librul media. It's helping your cause far more than you either seem to realize or want to admit.

I get it but to hit at the actual villain here, it seems like we would be cancelling Amazon Prime instead.
I just put the cancellation reminder in for the next cycle. If it were me alone I’d cancel today, but this’ll be a conversation with the other half. If I pulled the cord and they immediately lost their one day shipping, oh boy (bc cancelling continues prime benefits only for the account holder, thru the next renewal).

I’d argue that the right built, and continues to build, a parallel media ecosystem BECAUSE of the disinformation and propaganda pushed by the legacy media. Of course, that doesn’t mean they (the right) are free from those very same type of sins themselves, but…here we are. I certainly agree with your second sentence.
You probably would argue that, but you would do so poorly and nobody would take you seriously, so it's better for you that you didn't try.
